Aquired from brother in law gotta love em.

I really dont know much about it except it ran "good" when it was parked, lost rear driveline on street limped home in 4wd. Needs battery and the obvious. Great started rig or parts rig.

I love to have it except for the fact its going to have to pass Calif smog Looks like a Great project. By the way what kind of fab work are you looking to get done to your 40 ? I am very interested in a trade off

I agree, it looks like a 77 or 78 to me. For $700 I'd be all over this if it was anywhere near me (it's not). It looks FAR less rusty than my old orange and white piggy and looks fairly complete and unmolested. $700 (or less) is a very good price for this truck. Hell, the glovebox door, instrument cluster surround,, dash pad and door panels look great even covered with what, cobwebs? I'll be surprised if this 55 doesn't sell quickly. Shmukster

I would prefer to sell or trade to someone who is gonna keep it the way we like it. tomorrow ill be going to the dmv to make sure the title is clear

ok went up to see the 55 and put some gas and a battery in it and it turned over and ran for about 30 seconds. i have no doubt that this 55 will run great with a little love more gas and some carb cleaner. I also went to the dmv. NO HELP AT ALL. Went to the local police station and made sure there was a clean title and make sure it wasn't stolen. Nothing came up @ the police station so beyond that its up to you to get it in ur name

i also found out that it is in fact a 1978. also noticed that there was very little rust for all that care

Nice for the price, but 78 in California is just about the worst possible year.

Tempting, though. If it were a 75, I'd be all over it.

Is the vin plates missing or is that a clean spot over there between the battery tray and the heater blower motor on the inside passenger fender?

You should not have to run the plate at the police station or the DMV to find out the year unless the vin is missing.
