I picked up a 65 swb FJ45 (the Oregon ebay one mentioned on this form)
It runs good but the "wind" noise in the cab is almost enough to require earplug at 60 mph. The top blows up and down and buffetts around in the wind. Is this normal? This is my first 45!

45 noise

First of all, if you have a shortbed that goes 60mph, I would just be thankfull. Second, if it is a removeable top, like mine, it does tend to have some movement from the windshield/roof pivot point. The solid top versions are much more secure. I did find that after restoration and new weatherstripping and adjustment to door hinge plates, I was able to get rid of much of the noise. I would check all the bolts on the back of the cab, as well as all the tie downs. You will still also have a very noisy transmission on those year 45s. If that noise gets really bothersom, I'm sure someone will be willing to take it off your hands and rid you of that awfull problem.:)

Install new weatherstripping/seals, and crack a window (to let the pressure out of the cab) and insulate the tranny tunnel cover (underside, preferably).

The entire design of the vehicle screams '50 mph max' from a wind-noise standpoint.
