I am looking for a original paint worn fj40. Would like to find one with as little rust as possible, but I don't mind a little bit. Looking for a running driving fj40 with original paint. I don't mind if original interior is worn down. I want to buy one I can gradually work on. I have kids and want one they can climb around in or on and not worry about paint or restored condition. I can pay cash looking for something close to Texas. I would pay to ship if deal is right. I am looking in ball park 8-10k. Let me know what u have. Thanks

Just 2 pics off the net that are kinda what I am looking for.

Right on! now you are shopping in the right direction, I love patina FJs.. but no I won't sell you mine :))

Yep, you and everyone else!

lets get the word out so people stop painting FJ's ugly colors

The worst is when people start sanding them for paint and never finish, it kills the mojo...

Yep, you and everyone else!

Yup, this is true, so good luck!

And worst really is when you find a nice one that's been painted a non-stock fugly color and don't even paint the engine bay! And there's always that black roof! (then they ask $$$$ because it's been 'restored'). Sorry, rant over.

Thanks guys. I figure I kinda have a long road ahead. But I thought just in case someone has one and wants it to go to someone who will respect its age, paint and charactristics I would he that guy. I don't want to restore one just preserve it.

These aren’t close to TX and above your price point but something to consider possibly. My search went on for over a year and I stretched my budget a bit but found one. Ethel does have a black top (not for long). No affiliation- Good luck.

@Arrington don’t want to take over your thread but any others have any opinions on the ‘75 from Apple valley? It’s pretty close to me and I’ve been eyeing it.

Hi There,
I have a 1971 FJ40 that I purchased this summer from the second owner. I just had the original engine rebuilt. I have too many projects, and would be willing to sell it for what I have in it. PM me if you are interested.
Regards,
Dprstn

It’s not a 69 , but I have a 67 I bought a few months ago...it is sitting in a storage container . I’d let it go for what I’m into it . Super rare color and original paint , one owner rig until last year. Has a older v8 swap that runs and drives. I also bought a F155 engine that was rebuilt 10k miles ago . The engine is sitting at a buddies place in NM.

I wanted to take it with me to El Salvador and I may still. It’s just a matter of installing the engine I bought ...they have super strict import laws and vintage vehicles have to be bone stock. So both of my cruisers here are not eligible due to the V8 conversions. Also I can’t buy full coverage insurance for daily driving on either of them since they are over 10 years old. PIA laws .
