So I'm trying to figure out what to do for sliders on the 40.

I like this sort of design from 4 Plus:

4+Plus FJ40 Rock Sliders W/Step

I like the stock look of these, but I'm concerned about mounting sliders on the body. With the 60, I had body mounted sliders which worked awsome 95% of the time, until I slide off a rock sideways, and with no support from the inside, it bent the whole body to a point where my doors didn't open correctly.

Any thoughts?

for the wheelin we see here in the east, I would recommend frame-mounted sliders. Once you start leaning into stuff, you will eventually comprise your bodywork with the body-mounted style. that all said, the 4+ is a nice design, you dont lose as much clearance, so you are less likely to touch. You could add some frame tie-ins to that design...
I would say it depends where you want to put that rig/who are you going to be following/how pretty do you plan on keeping it?

i agree with frame mounted sliders over body mounted.. way stronger and you can jack your truck up off them.. i think you learned your lesson with the 60.. there is a good thread somewhere in the 40 section with a lot of pics of different options.. do a quick search and check it out for some good ideas.

I vote frame mount.

I would trust this guy's opinion....I have not seen anything that he doesn't lean into....hard....sideways...up hill...the gas pedal.....

:):):)

What Kina said.

JR - is there enough material on the MAF sliders to tie them into the frame? If not, you might consider starting from scratch and build some sliders independent from the body. If you're going to wheel it hard  you'll want something bomb proof.

North Country Cruisers makes a nice set... I'm a big fan of their patent pending kick kink at the end of their sliders, throws that booty away from the rocks.

Aye aye for the frame mount.

Any pic's of NCC's?
