Hi all, does anybody knows if you can install a lift kit from an FJ40 (are the springs, shocks compatible?) under a BJ70? OME, Ironman, etc...prices are just too much...rough country's 4" is $550, procomp 2.5" kit is around $700. Has anybody done this? Or does anybody knows of any other springs/shocks that work? Example a solid axle 4Runner/Pick Up or Jeep/Chevy/Ford springs hybrid combos?....

Thanks.

Allow me to expand a bit.

No way.

Get the real thing (OME) from Cruiser Outfitters. No need to try to make something else work when the correct stuff is available.

That's right, Cam Am (Ward) may have some of the Terrain Tamer coming in now.

Left spring: 70 series old man emu 50mm lift front spring

Right spring: 40 series old man emu 50mm lift front spring

The 40 series spring is about 20mm shorter than the 70 series and the centre bolts are about 100mm apart. I've done it the other way around and put 70 series springs in a 40 series with good results but it doesn't work putting 40 series springs into a 70 series

Other major difference is that the eyes on the FJ40 springs are a lot smaller then the 70,only late model 40/42's had the bigger bushings like the 70 series.

Hey all, Ok found this guy that uses "long replace-a-leaf from Tundras" for the rear and "long replace-a-leaf from Tacomas" (not sure which leafs he replaces yet, but he does not add them, he replaces one leaf from each pack), gets about 2"-2.5" inches of lift, he says the ride is pretty good and for shocks he told me to choose whatever I wanted from an FJ40 with 2-3 lift...adjustable ranchos, rough countrys, Fox, Blistein, remote reservoirs, add air/hydraulic bumpstops... he says shocks are compatible/interchangeable even with FJ60/62s and that he has done this to over 50 FJ40/43/70/73/60s down in Colombia with great results and a cost starting at $300 including shocks up to whatever...Im trying to get some pics.
