Need FJ40 help. Finishing rebuild on FJ 2F and concerned over no oil spitting out of rocker arms. Have read all strings regarding valve adjustment, etc. Shouln't I be seeing some oil coming out of rocker arms. Had a machine shop do valve job and re-assemble heads. I'm wondering if they somehow assembled wrong. I know topside is to get oil from #4 on rocker assembly. Engine oil pressure is good. Engine purrs and ready to complete.

Anyone have any similar experience? Thanks...:bang:

Is the head gasket installed correct. If its backwards, it will block the oil passage to the rockers.

Welcome.

Before you removed the cylinder head for the valve job, was there oil coming from the rocker arms?

Did you send the rocker arm assembly to the machine shop with the cylinder head to have them “check it out”?

If so, it is very possible that they have installed the rocker arm shaft backwards so that the oil hole in the shaft that should be located at the #4 rocker stand is now located at the #3 rocker stand.

How long have you allowed the engine to run and not seen oil to the rocker shaft assembly? Oil will not flow from the tips of the rockers on a new build instantly. Sometimes it takes a little while, 20 or 30 seconds or perhaps even a little longer to get oil flowing out the tips of the rocker arms.

Thanks for the ideas. As my luck would have it, I sent the entire assembled head to the machine shop. Oil at #3 is the problem. This forum is a great tool for all of us FJ40 freaks. I appreciate all of the info that people are willing to share. THANKS!
