Hi All, I'm having problems finding a fitting to go on the fuel tank in my 1970 FJ40. I have searched all the autoparts stores in town, the closest we can get is 1/4-inch. It doesn't fit quite right, I believe it has to be metric.

I have looked in both the repair manuals I have, but no luck.

I would appreciate any information on what the proper size fitting is for the fuel line going from the gas tank nipple to the carburator.

Also, any recomendations of where it can be sourced.

Thanks,

-DZ:confused:

Coolerman's website gives all the sizes needed for all the fuel fittings. You can also try a search, this question came up recently.

Here's the link to his site:
Making Fuel Lines

Bottom line, your best bet is an old line with the fitting still in tact. Good luck.

my local parts place tried all they had and came up with nothing. Ended up calling spector and ordered used for cheap, showed up quick. Can't remember what auto parts guy said, but might have been an uncommon size thread?

Hey DZ........ If you can't locate a fix........

PM me your address and I'll send you one.....

The actual size of the compression nut is 13mm x 1.5 but no one has ever found a source beyond old fittings.

The hard line between the fuel pump and carb on earlier trucks has two of these fittings. Just cut off the nut and line from one end leaving about an inch of hard line. Thread the fitting onto the tank and slip a rubber hose hose onto the 'nipple' that is sticking out.

Thanks for the Help!

Thanks everyone for you help. I will try to get the correct size fitting from Spector Off-Road. No wonder the standard size stuff wasn't working.

Unfortunately the cruiser didn't come with original carb or fuel line, otherwise the tip about using that fitting would have been great. I'll post back once I get this figured out so there is a resolution for any future Cruiser Heads.

Happy Holidays!

Now if only I had one of those hard lines :)
