do you have bows for 1978 FJ43 ?
I guess is the same FJ40's bows, but the two side rods are longer.

Here are the first of many parts that I am fabbing up for the Factory soft top. Thist is the most simple peice. The most difficult channel peice is above and behind the soft door. I will have that completed in the next week or so I hope. My hope is to fab up 15 complete sets of early soft tops for whom ever is in need. I need one for myself may as well make a few after going through all of the work.

I have a 1962 FJ40, is there anyone out there who still makes/fans parts for the soft top? I have the doors, two large bows and some small rods but am clues as to how it all goes together. Need the canvas too.

Guess what you have is possibly a old Kayline aftermarket top. OEM tops the bows are all the same diameter. Post pictures of what you have. Her is my 1960 FJ25 with a old Kayline top. Do your door look like this.

No. I bought a Kayline top from a guy off of Craigslist from Oklahoma. It is supposed to fit my '62. My '62 looks just like yours except for the grill. Can you send some pictures to surfruner@aol.com, or post them here of your bows, doors, snaps etc.... The top I got is in great condition with out instructions. BUMMER!!!! I will make it work though. Thanks for the reply.

Did this amount to anything? Willing to give an arm and possibly a leg for OEM/replica parts to copy or even just the dimensions to give my local shop to fabricate. The shop owner would love to get his hands on an early b-type set of bows to measure and copy. He has a few 25s and early fst 40s (one of which is mine) that are without the soft top bows. We've both been looking for a set to copy for years now.

i can get dimensions. i have a 25 with b type. i need a second set of bows for annie, but after loaning out an oe bracket to hold the bows to be reproduced and having the shop that was doing it lose the part, i'm not willing to let parts out of my possession anymore :(

i can probably trace it all out on butcher paper

Completely understand the concern, I wouldn't let them go either! I'll take whatever you are willing to provide (such as tracing them out), my only concern being the channels around the doors and the doors themselves being complicated...

You mention needing a second set, are you thinking of having them reproduced somewhere? I might be willing to jump in on an order if so and have them shipped out here to the Bay Area once completed.

I am, but i'm a very long way away from getting that done.

Understood. I honestly think waiting until you do is my best option for now, even if it's a year+ down the road.

I guess reach out in the forums when you do, I'm sure I'll see any new post that gets made.
