I was watching the last pictures of Fun Race in Venezuela www.funrace4x4.com ; there was a blue FJ cruiser with a Snorkel over there:bounce::bounce2:. As far as I know, Safari (ARB) still not develops that product yet. Someone knows for sure?

A debate started in the Spanish forum about it, and they explain that was hand made by a local shop. It was made of fiberglass…I’m wondering, Safari (ARB) is going to deliver that product? Someone knows?

Thanks in advance,
Roberto

before you dive make sure to extend the rear diff breather tube! once or twice through a stream is no biggie but you dont wanna be fording riveres with the stock setup. the mod is in the $5-$20 range so jsut break down and do it! save your diff!

I'll never do it to the FJC.

I might have to agree with you on that. The FJC can already forge water deep enough to start leaking into the cabin, and the intake is fairly well protected from water splashing into it, so a snorkel might be bit excessive for very little extra benefit.

The biggest problems I had were the unwanted attention and the problems I had after using the snorkel.

I had plenty of electronics that had problems after going in water I wouldn't have gone into without the snorkel.

If you get into to water deep enough to need a snorkel in the midwest, chances are very good you'll get stuck in the bottom muck.

The thing is a moron magnet. You'll never get gas, groceries or anything without having people want to talk to you about your exhaust sticking out of your hood.

I talked with Jim at ARB the other day, around September now.

Not getting mine for water, but for the dust up where I go in the summer.
It is pretty bad when you caravan with a team of rigs.

Make sure you point the snorkel backwards then, otherwise it'll act like a ram air intake and you'll end up with more dust, not less. The stock intake is actually shielded fairly well from dust, and might be better then a snorkel in that respect.

I asked ARB about getting a snorkel with the pre-filter on top instead of that stupid ram air looking top. They said "you don't need it, it's more or less for really dusty conditions". That wasn't what I wanted to hear. What I wanted to hear was - "We can set that up for you, no problem".

As far as a snorkel goes, I like the fact it will give me peace of mind to have a higher air intake protecting my engine. I was in Louisiana when things started flooding a few months ago and I was happy the air intake in my Cruiser was fairly high. However I looked into a snorkel right away afterwards only to find that ARB still doesn't have one for the new FJ.

I'd like to have a Safari Snorkel with the pre-cleaner on the top, and provision to run vent tubes into it from the diffs and transmission etc........ Corey maybe it could be suggested to the ARB guys?

I always had mine facing forward and my air cleaner stayed significantly cleaner than stock.

There's a lot less dust 7' in the air than there is at headlight level.

I heard sept or so for the production of these, I can't wait I held off on CAI so I could chop a huge hole in the side of the fender:lol:

Scuba drivers Unite:cheers:

Funny you mention that when I had previously thought to mount an 80 cubic ft scuba tank to the back of the drivers seat in my 40 with a regulator tossed over the drivers right shoulder and a set of goggles hanging from the cage 'just in case' the water got too deep.......!

rfjtoy: Was wondering how you like your ARB Freezer/Fridge? I have been contemplating one. What's the retail on one of those anyway?
