I know this has been brought up before but maybe not with the emphasis of Toyota Motor Corporations saying one thing and something else happening.

My gripe is that I had plans to buy a FJCruiser as advertised by Toyota for 23k.
I was willing to pay sticker. The ONLY options I wanted or needed was the 6 speed and 4x4. I had no use for the Bling Bling 17" alloy rims. I would prefer the Black Ugly steelies. I have no use for the Generic Tire cover or Goofy Rack or Running Boards. I don't have a use for the pin stripes or any of that Fluff.

I just want a Base FJ Cruiser.

I'd like to know if anyone has even SEEN a cruiser with no options?

I see all these Steel Rims on Ebay that were take offs from FJCruisers. I wonder why all those are on there? Must be dealers adding all the fluff on.

I guess I am Rambling. I really like the FJCruisers but I would like to have a choice of options. I really don't see that happening around my parts. (Texas)

Oh well maybe in a year or three I might own one.

To all you FJCruiser owners. Congrats you have, in my opinion one of the NICEST rigs built in the last 10 years. For the 30k most are paying I think it is still a bargain. I just wished that if Toyota says 23k then they should sell it at 23k. It's a principle thing for me.

THanks.

Go to your local dealer, tell them exactly what you want and that you will buy it today at MSRP, if they know you're serious, and they know they have a sale they may find one in the system, or order one for you. Worth a try...

Yep.

As Ben suggested, order the FJC you want and you can have it at MSRP in ~6 weeks.

The FJC is one of two Toyota models that can be special ordered by a customer (can't remember what the other one was.) I was told this by a Toyota employee that allocates the vehicles for dealers in the Southwest. It might depend on where you live, what distributor your dealer has to go through, and what your dealer is willing to do... but if you can't get what you want then call American in Abq and see if they will work with you.

Finding a bare bones FJC (or any other vehicle for that matter) is going to be hard because, in reality, the vast majority of buyers do not want to drive a stripped down model. You may not like hearing that but it is a fact.

Try Dianne from Carson Toyota over through tundrasolutions.com. She can get what you want.

Living in Texas you may find that you have to look out of state. Gulf States Toyota, your distributor, more or less does their own thing and I would be surprised if they let you order a base, no option model. You may have better luck dealing with a Toyota owned distributor.

Gulf States and SouthEast Toyota Distributors are the only 2 private ones.

Thanks for the info.

Here is what I am going to see if I can order.
28,051.00 Sticker
(650.00) 17" Wheels
(349.00) Vehicle Shield Package
(1,840.00) Convenience Package: Remote Keyless
(1,687.00) The Extra Mile Option Package A
23,525.00

I basically went to the toyotaofdallas site and picked a 4x4 6MT.

Then subtracted the options that were added that I did not want.

So if I can order one to my specs. The sticker should be 23,525.00.

The only thing is that they may require me to get a package eg. A, B or ??

That would bump the price up to 26,899.00

But then that defeats the purpose of me not getting the pinstripes, mats, tire cover tire warranty and roadside...etc.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Does the rig you're building include the rear locker? If you're going to special order, you might want to think about getting that.

When I ordered mine, I only really wanted the locker, but they said I had to get the convenience package. In retrospect, I can live with the power mirrors and cruise control.

Locker is standard on the 6 speed MT, so yup :)

 I knew that! It's early and I haven't had my coffee or Mountain Dew yet! My mistake! Got to read the whole post, FJCOG, got to read the whole post...

hehe heh ;)

Lowest I see now at a dealership in San Antonio is $26,147 but I think the lowest i have ever seen, readily available, is for ~$25K here. I remember that one had steelies.

I am curious if those ones that were in the 25k range were the 4x2 ones.

I talked to Red McCombs Toyota in San Antonio, and they told me that you HAVE to at least get the convenience package. I was wandering the same thing. I only want one or two extras and not all that other junk. I may try some other places. I'm willing to wait for what I want.

If you want a 4x4 AT in the Gulf States Toyota region, you get your FJ in one of three flavors:

1) Option Combo A
CQ - Convenience Package (keyless entry, sonar, etc.)
AL - Alloy wheels
DL - Rear locker
*this is the most basic package you can get in TX. Total is $26,765 MSRP.

2) Option Combo B
CQ - Convenience Package
GY - Side Curtain Airbags
UP - Upgrade Package 1

3) Option Combo C
CQ - Convenience Package
GY - Side Curtain Airbags
UR - Upgrade Package 2

Of course you can add all the port options on any of these combos (roof rack, rock rails, etc), but if you wanted a Option Combo A with Side Curtain Airbags, you'd have to step up to either Combo B or C which is well over $2000 more than Option Combo A. You're also getting the alloy wheels if you want them or not. Gulf States Toyota has established these combos, and that's what you get, take it or leave it unfortunately.

If you want a really cheap one here in San Anotnio, talk to the manager at Red McCombs Toyota, he drives around in the dealership test car, the one you can test drive. I bet they would sell it cheap considering some woman ran into it while talking on her cell phone.

I heard from one of the dealers that they were going to start to see the base models coming in soon. When I dont know.
