what about 14bolt? u guys think it might be overkill/

I've seen rockwells on buggies. So I'd say a 14 bolt is not overkill. A full float 14 bolt is pretty cool. But they do hang very low.

Then what are you going to put in the front? You'll want to go larger tires cause the 14bolt is huge. Then you'll want to upgrade the motor, tranny and tcase. And then..... I've seen this happen to my buddy Tom Ryan. Fix the diff and run it. Keep it light. Also you'll spend more time wheeling and less time wrenching. Not that wrenching isn't part of the fun.

Yeah it can become a slippery slope.

2 best things about 14bolts are they are strong and cheap. Problem for you is it will be much wider than the front, you will need to get new 6 lug hubs(drops about 100lbs tho), pinion drive flange and a shave kit if you don't want it to be a boat anchor. So that junkyard $150 cost is now like 500ish. I would guess that axle with disc conversion is about 100lbs heavier than ur mini axle. I would do new gears or v6 dif for now. If you are not upgrading the rest of the drivetrain or going to bigger tires I'd stay away from 14b. If you want bling axle go 9"

I think its broken!

That e locked diff probably has stock 4.11 gear ratio. Ill be looking for 5.29 ring and pinion

That video explains perfectly how you broke this year. The guy in the video even explains it. The solution is don't bounce.

the ring and pinion are about 3 years old, but when i broke my spider gears last year the ring had some chipped teeth. i guess i just finished it off this year,
its a trail gear part anyway, Yukon should hold up better.
i need to use better lock tight on the bolts, the carrier bearing bolts were loose a little bit.

anyone knows if Nitro gears are comparable to Yukon gears? little cheaper in price,

From them I just gave up. Hope all had a good Christmas up there. I was telling friends this week how much fun and different shelling was up there thn round here. I ques well be back up next all gathering thou just gotta wait.

I see a lot of guys run 14 bolts with no issues, they shave it down an inch or so for ground clearance, very strong and cheap to build, Tom stop throwing it together and fix it right, with those 39" stickies your going to keep having trouble with that rear, I'm looking into doing it also, there is a company that will make axles for it with 6 lug.
