RE COST: I have the very same truck (same paint scheme) but live about 100 miles north of Houston. I've shopped all around and been quoted as high as $7500. That's even with going back with a single color instead of the two-tone. Several shops even said they only do insurance work. Guess business is pretty good in the auto body and paint business. I decided to wait a while and spend some money on energy saving things for the house.

Yes it's factory paint. I wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible. Plus after seeing it this color all my life I couldn't imagine it any other way. I'm pleased so far. Just hope no other expensive problems surface in the too near future.

Great Paint Shop in Southern California

I got my FJ62 repainted a year ago. I took it to a few body shops and one told me that if I was going to be dragging it through the bushes to just take it to Maaco in Costa Mesa. A year later it still looks great. Price was under $2000.

This is different than what KURTFLAN got. First, I stripped off everything myself. Emblems, grill, door handles, etc, I removed it all except the glass. Maaco doesn't remove anything, they just tape stuff. If you don't remove it there will be a lot of overspray. Second, Maaco only did a single stage, no clearcoat. Third, you won't be able to change color. Doing door jams, underhood and whatever would cost a lot more.

But, I'm happy and would recommend the Maaco in Costa Mesa. Can't speak for other Maacos.
