My father in law wants to sell his lovingly restored fj40. How do I go about pricing it?

It is a 1976 that he just completed a frame up rebuild. No rust, paint restored to original color, 350 Chevy, Edelbrock carburetor, Headman headers, new mufflers with that shield, power steering, 4 wheel disk brakes, new brake pads, new wiring harness, tub has Berliner coating, new rear jump seats with custom supports, new head liner, new heater core, winch, high lift jack, rubber in great shape, and a full roll cage tucked inside. Main gas tank under passenger seat, auxiliary tank with skid plate in rear. Absolutely fantastic rig.

So any ideas on price and where to sell are greatly appreciated. He probably has about 40 into it, more if you count his own labor.

Looking at the pics. He did it up the way he wanted it. Unfortunately, that is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. He can’t expect to get his investment back in today’s market. Lots of mods and non standard finishes. Looks like $20 to $25k to me.

Lots to like there and some not so much. If everything works I don't see why you shouldn't get the 15 to 25k depending on your market.

$25K easy. Much cheaper to re-paint roof and grille than to do a frame off rebuild on a barn find...

Roof, grill, bezel, speedo, glovebox, ashtray, hood hardware, rockers? Front bumper looks to be hanging into the swing of the shackles. Mudflaps?
Its a long list but way doable for the right price.

Someone will like this for around $20K. If he built it to sell and has over $40K in it he needs a new business model.

No way this thing gets 40 grand. 20k tops.

I think it sold. It’s not listed in Santa Fe anymore on CL. Disappeared a few weeks back. Wasn’t on there that long either. Guess someone liked it enough to pay. Or they decided to keep it.
