Im trying to fix the rear lean on my 02 taco. It has a 1" lift block/1" shackle to match the Sway-Away 2.0 installed on the front. I bought it this way. It leans badly on the driver side.

Is it best to buy Dakar 2.5" springs and go back to stock shackles, do an AAL and delete the block, or add a leaf to the driver side?

I would do some 63's like I did on my 84, but do not want to modify this truck to that extent.

I would have to guess that your stock springs are ether worn out, something heavier than normal on that side or a leaf broken in the pack that you don't see.

I would replace the pack with the Dakars or Deavers and go back to the stock length shackles. I have no issues with longer shackles if they have a center brace but blocks will amplify axle wrap.

I'm not 'heavier' than normal, if thats what you were getting at :p

Im willing to say there is atleast a 1/2" difference with no gas, and atleast 1" with a full tank. I'm leaning towards the dakars, but I dont want to end up having a perky ass end. Right now I've got most my gear loaded to the passenger side to offset the lean.

I think your (apparently stock?) springs are shot.
You should be able to order a new leaf spring set with the height you want to avoid the "perky ass end".
Just my .02 - good luck!

They be stock, or "TRD" If there is a difference.

I'm going with the 2.5 dakars, and if there is a slight rear 'perk' I will adjust the front's to match...

I think your right on the money with the Dakar CS046's, they will net you closer to 3" on a lighter truck, pretty good match for your Sway-Away fronts. Ditch the blocks and most likely the shackle and your in business. Realize that the OME (Dakar) bushing kit for the stock shackle (or stock OD shackle bolts) is different than if your using the OME shackle, so plan accordingly. Let me know if we can help you out with any of this, we deal with a ton of Tacoma stuff. :D

Alright guys,

I ended up not buying the OME dakars....

And built my own spring packs! :flipoff2:

No pics, because I finished in the dark... But, it went like this;
1st leaf: Stock tacoma
2nd: Stock tacoma
3rd: 3rd leaf from top on a set of 84pickup front springs
4th: Stock tacoma 3rd
5th: 4th leaf on 84 springs
6th: (on drivers only) 4th leaf on 84 rear
stock overload.

It gave me 1" of lift, so I kept the block and went back to stock shackles (better pinion angle IMO)
sets even with full tank of gas! and the ride is 10x firmer but not rigid.
Total cost: 7.54 for grade 8 bolt/torque lock nuts
