Hello, before i ask my question i just want to say that i am a rather new owner and i am already hooked at age 16. anyways, to my question, on the front part of the drive shaft, the slip yoke i believe, there is a 3/4 in. size cap that seems to go into the slip yoke. I was under my cruiser greasing all the joints and stuff, and noticed that this cap is not fully in the shaft and will not allow the yoke to hold grease. help? i think i should unbolt from the shaft from the flange on the third member and take a closer look. ideas? thanks in advance, Dylan

Its a common problem. Pull the driveshaft out and clean the splines of old grease and grit while you're there. After it's clean tap the cap back down where it belongs. Then take a chisel and hammer and pean the edges of the hole around the cap (to pean means to displace the metal by making dents near the edge of the hole to intentionally make the hole smaller so the cap doesn't come out again; far easier to do than to explain...). Or find someone to tack weld it in for you. Coat the splines with fresh, clean grease and reassemble. You might have to remove the grease fitting to get it back together if the splines are in good shape (removing the grease fitting allows the trapped air to get out of the end of the shaft because it can't escape around the splines). Bolt it back in and enjoy the ride.

HTH,
Nick
