I've got a breather setup that comes with a hard line and push to fit fittings. I don't feel like the stiff plastic lines will hold up to cold weather, so I want to replace it with 1/4" ID fuel line. That means I need to replace the push fittings with something like one that is barbed on one end and threaded on the other.

I've tried to order brass fittings, and have received something that didn't meet my expectations. As a result I have to assume that I am ordering the wrong thing.

What I ordered were 1/4" barbed to 1/4" NPT fittings. The barbed end fits the hose fine, but the threaded end has an OD of around 1/2". I need that OD of the threaded part to be closer to 1/4" to fit the threaded openings.

What size thread should I order to get a 1/4" thread diameter?

Probably 1/8" NPT? Surprisingly the hard line may fair better in cold temps, don't sell it short. Synflex is a good product.

In case it is helpful:

Unfortunately because I wasn't paying attention when I ordered, I got some off brand, and the line they sent isn't as nice as the ARB ones.

Looks like they are 1/8" BSP thread.

EDIT: oops sorry I thought it was ARB. May still be the same size though?

1/8" sounds like the ticket. Is there any good way for me to differentiate between NPT and BSP? Taper or thread pitch?

The ARB line can be a metric size, not that's real crucial since it's not a pressurized if you go to something close.

BSP = British Std. Pipe? I'd give ARB North America a jingle, think they're here on the left coast?

Sorry, I didn't get the ARB kit - I thought I ordered ARB, but got something else.

This is the auction title: "ARB 4x4 170112 Differential Axle Breather Kit FOR Toyota Tacoma 4Runner Tundra" but what the fine print says is "iFJF" 170112.

Totally my fault for not paying attention.

Odds are it is an ARB knockoff, which irks me, but I don't trust them to be precise in their copy, so can't rely on the fittings matching.

Let me try the 1/8" BSP, and see how it goes.

Thanks, guys.

Probably should, but I can't be bothered.
