I'm looking to potentially upgrade my LX470 ('06) into a LX570. I'm open to all years provided they meet the sweet spot I'm looking for in mileage/price/etc.

I generally lean away from the first model year of any car. Though a 2008 has come up with the right blend of qualities.

Has the 2008 model year proven to have any shortcomings or defects that later model years address? Tell me what you know!

I drive an 08 and my answer is no - other than not being able to stream my music via Bluetooth I have nothing to bitch about.
items that would be nice but an option for that model year:
ventilated seats
heated steering wheel
turn assist
multi cameras on exterior
Flip side less gizmos less to worry about having to replace when / if a failure happens
happy hunting

What Willy said...but you can easily add a Bluetooth receiver via the input on the center console. Works a charm...and does not interfere with built-in phone functions if you prefer that. Seamlessly fades out music for map directions from Google Maps or other apps connected via phone via bluetooth...

Bought my 2008 a year ago and it's amazing. Love getting driving it every day.

I agree with both of the above. I found a relatively lower mileage 08 and am totally happy with it. I might have enjoyed ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel as well - but I don't miss what I never had!

I have an '08, also. No complaints. There do not seem to be any "first year of model" problems. Don't let that sway you one way or the other.

Flip side: The LC is always improved year-to-year so generally get more gizmos as the years go by.

I like my '08, and it fit my budget nicely.

Actually, 2008 did have a serious problem. I know this because I bought a 2008 when it came out and after 3mo or so a recall went out about many rear axels not being lubed. They forgot to lube many of them. I wonder how many sucides "honor deaths" took place that day. Lol! I would make sure to check its history and also take it in to make sure it was either completed in recall or not one of the vin #'s part of the recall.

Which BT receiver are you using?

Good stuff guys. I'm looking at an '08 that seems to have most of the options. It has the cooled seats and surround cameras. Not sure how to tell if it has heated seats? The lack of BT audio doesn't really bother me as that's easily remedied as per above.

I'd trust Toyota/Lexus to do a thorough validation for a new model production more than any other manufacturer. Especially so for the Land Cruisers. Good to see that this has been the case.

On later yrs the heated seats are the red portion of the dial clockwise and ventilated the blue anti-clockwise.

I use the seats, for sure, but of all the things that differ I'd care most about lighting. LED/HID headlighta are hard to lose if you're used to them. I live rurally.
