Hello all, first time in the tundra section, I’m a land cruiser guy mainly, but I’m looking at getting my first tundra, the one I’m looking at is an 06 with 118k miles. The dealer said the frame had been replaced from recall, but sent some pics of the under carriage anyways, how do y’all think this looks in terms of rust/leaks? Looks like the tcase might have a little leak? Thanks for the help

When was the frame replaced, 10 years ago? looks like it has developed some rust spots again. First pic at the lift post, frame has been painted over a bad spot. Look how the steps are attached... Rear tcase looks like fresh semigloss instead of a leak, but you may be right. That tcase is probably about rusted through, they are knows to do that. I wouldn't buy a truck with a frame replacement, the rest of the truck is going to be just as rusty, which it appears to be. You should be able to find a great rust free tundra in the south

Thanks jqrauman, I’ll let this one pass. That one you linked to looks really nice, is there much difference between the AC and DCs? Appreciate the help

My 2000 AC TRD had a frame replacement about 7 years ago. Best thing that could happened imo since they replaced the brake lines and steering rack. it runs strong at 277K. I'd be more worried about if the timing belt and starter have been replaced than the rust in those pics.

OP @randomuser72

r u from Texas? if so why bother with this type of frame? I got a Tundra from Texas (Collage Station) and the frame and most of the undercarriage is prestine clean. If you look around you will find better examples. BTW the DC is what I got and its good to have extra space if you have family.

Sorry missed these notifications. There wasn’t much for sale in my price/mileage range and I was being impatient😂 thanks to the advice from here and tundras .com I passed on the out of state trucks and just waited a little bit. Just picked one up last night, 1 owner, Texas truck, and if I would’ve known how good these frames can still look after 15 years I wouldn’t even have considered those rusty ones. Thanks for the help y’all (excuse the poor pic quality that was taken at midnight)
