A little help...I don't know whether to go with the tunable Firestik II or Wilson I have heard good things about both. Is there that big of a difference if any? Firestik is more readily available to me, any thoughts are welcome...I am going to be mounting it on the Passenger side, Front Bumper (stock). I know it's not the most complex of questions, I just want to make the best choice.

I prefer Wilson.

I have used lots of CB stuff, dating back to the early 1970's. Some of which is still hooked up and working after over 30 years...

My current set-up on the 80 is a 5 foot Wilson 'glass antenna mounted to my Slee tyre carrier. I also have twin Wilsons on my Dodge truck.

Sam - if you go with the Wilson, can you post up some pics?

I'm thinking over different mounting options.

Thanks

On my Tacoma I ran a Wilson and a 102" steel whip, the Wilson reception was better. But if hitting ever tree and traffic light in town is your thing the 102" was ok.

My buddy has a K40 Superflex and it is really nice, not to mention it will bend almost in half. It is also tunable.

You might want to do some research about mounting it. If you place it up front on the corner I think you will get reception mostly off of the driver side rear(?).

A lot of people are switching too high watt GMRS/FRS for group runs. The reception is 100X better, it’s private, and the range is confined to a 5 mile or so radius. Unfortunately (and fortunately) not everyone has them, they also require an FCC license too use a lot of the channels. The GMRS channels share some FRS channels so you can use them to communicate with the .5 watt FRS radios too. I took my CB out cause I got tired of the people with linear amps and "echo'ers".

better in outfitting?

I have a wilson. It's mounted to my Slee tire carrier. The way-too-into-CBs guys at the place I picked up my all my CB stuff preferred the Wilson to the Firestick. They carried both and the Firestick I was looking at was more expensive than the Wilson they sold me.
