Hello everyone,
Recently acquired a 2 owner 2000 LX470 with 244k miles. Recently completed TB, and some other goodies. Previous owner had it for 21 years before handing it off to me. I've read a decent amount about the AHC but wanted to get some other opinions on the situation I'm in:
Truck no longer has the AHC "shocks" and unfortunately has the strutmaster kit. From what I've heard, I need to get rid of this ASAP and either return to AHC or go the OEM landcruiser route with new torsion bars and OEM LC shocks.
On that note, it seems most of the AHC parts are still on the truck (globes, reservoirs, lines). Should I try to get it back up and running, or should I just go for the conventional Landcruiser setup? I'm also trying to remember that these AHC shocks were replaced at one point for a reason.

Oem Land Cruiser shocks are super cheap, I’d just get those and put them on. Did they replace the springs and torsion bars when they did the conversion?

Looks like front/rear strutmaster shocks and the rear springs. The front is pretty much slammed to the ground, so I am going to assume the torsion bars were not replaced either.

Yup that's a hack job, source a land cruiser torsion bar and buy 4 new struts from toyota and call it a day. Don't try to reverse AHC it's a lot of work and who knows why it failed in the first place, ruptured line, ruptured globes, bad sensors, bad pump etc...

This is good advice.

Torsion bars and springs can be found cheap in junk yards if you can find a 100 series/470.
