How bad it the steering with the added lift?

Steering still feels great, I don't have the exact numbers yet but the castor plates put it pretty close. I will hopefully have the time to get them before the next ice age. :D

:eek::grinpimp::D
Will you be relegating the rig with mostly offroading duties? Im just imaginging how the ride will be so different with the setup?

Nope, still my daily driver. The ride is great, with the current shocks and springs it rides better than with the full OME set up. It handles differently due to the height but the ride is great.

your pooch is gunna have a hard time leaping into the co-pilot seat now.

time for a taller dog!

kiddin ya....that's sick! me want that!

more info on the custom rear parts?

She still makes it just fine, she uses the sliders as a launch pad. ;)

Thanks.

I am going to fab the rear arms myself when I can scrounge up the time and the steel.

Nice stance, looks great! Im sure it will settle some, but thats probably a good thing. Your pic makes me want to go flareless.

Funny about the ride height and compromises associated... I get many passengers complimenting on how well my car handles despite the height, people always expect it to be much worse.

I am hoping that they will settle a little too, but not too much. :grinpimp:

Funny how people think that a lifted truck becomes useless on the street. Not you Alan. :flipoff2:

Thanks for the complements all. I am very happy with it.

Mo, was this the last set of 80 series tie rod/drag links they sold? I just looked at the Marlin site at this moment and they have some for 4Runners/Pups only. Did you buy the TRE to complete the setup?

Any reason why you didnt go for Slees?

Thanks.

Because he wanted a headache and to spend almost 6 weeks trying to solve it!

EDIT: My rant on my tie rod and drak link combo from Marlin removed.

After the debacle that i went through with their hi-steer setup on my FJ60, i wouldnt give these dudes a red cent!

Hopefully Mo doesnt have 1/10 the problems i did! He probably wont since Chris G is gone.

Carry On!

I've been running the marlin tie rod/drag(relay) rod combo on mine for 3+yrs now through a lot of stuff and been really happy with it.

I don't recall if Slee offered those back then and I have plenty of Slee stuff on my truck but on a personal note I try to support local CA companies 1st when I can. Marlin has done so much good for the Toyota community; developing, offering quality parts at reasonable $, sponsorship, support of events, etc that I buy from them when I can. All my experiences have been really positive with them from my mini truck, 4-runner, or 80. They don’t advertise all the parts they sell for the 80 so you have to ask, for example I purchased my knuckle rebuilt kit from them.

I deleted my post after re-reading yours! You have great points!

Marlin makes awesome stuff and supports the LC community!

My issue (which was one of the most horrendous customer service issues i have EVER) had was with one of his employees @ the time, Chris Geiger from Trail Gear. Marlin was the one who finally fixed the issue after almost a month of me going back and forth with Chris G. I will spare u all the details, but lets just say, there are A LOT of cruiserheads that boycott any shop/store that he works for/at!

Anyway, the marlin stuff is STOUT, so if it fits (mine wasnt even close), you will love it

Rock On! :D

Thanks for all the input on Marlins stuff. As somebody who just started doing this offroad thing, its nice to hear the good and the bad and let buyer beware.

After an impromptu outing a couple of days ago ;), Im web shopping to replace some stuff. After I look underneath my truck some more during the daylight, Ill see want Im going to need. All I see for sure is my steering wheel is cocked to the left and the inside outer edge DS tire looks more wear when Im turning right.

Thanks.

Sorry I'm late.

Alan, pretty much answered but they do some parts for 80's, you just have to ask. The reason I went with Marlin's instead of Christo's is price. $69 vs $110 is a no brainer. :D

Kevin, you are correct the Gieger factor can cause alot of damage. I remember when he joined at John at All Pro. I have received only the best customer service from Marlin and current crew.

Brian, couldn't agree more.

 Say again. :flipoff2:

Forgot to mention:

Noteworthy on this one is that they custom make the 80 series bars to order since they don't get alot of requests for them. They still got them to me in 3 days. When they got here they accidently made the drag link with 23mm tapped ends instead of the 21mm tapped ends that come factory. When I contacted them about it they put a rush on it and made me a new one same day and I recieved it the next day with a UPS call tag to send the other one back no questions asked. I then lost the jam nuts for the tie rod (not at all thier doing) but they sent me out two more and stickers next day again no questions asked. So in short I am very happy with the service, it is equally on par with the excellent customer service I have always gotten from Slee as well but it came down to numbers, they are almost half the price of Christo's.
