Hey Guys,

Back in April I posted a message regarding places to look for a 06-07 LC or LX. Never found the right one, so I decide to pull the trigger on a 2012 FJ this weekend. It will be a daily driver as well as a fun toy for the weekend. All stock now but have a short list of mods to come.

I had to be a little more reasonable with my purchase since it was going to be my daily driver and I drive a lot (40-50k a year). Last year I did 52K+. I'm in sales and cover the state. An older LC might have kept up, but I didn't need to chance it.

That being said, I'm in Conway and looking to do a few back road camping trips this fall and would like your opinions on some great places to take my boys (6 and 9). We've done the "civilized" campsites around the state, but would like to do a little more exploring. Richland Creek has been mentioned to me a few times but would like some others.

Also, what's the best place to get good forest road maps?

Thanks in advance for you advice.

Nice FJ! Congrats..

A fav spot of mine is the Albert Pike/Shady Lake/Little Missouri Falls area in the ONF. Lots of back road exploring with tons of primitive spots along the river to camp.

Welcome to the sickness! Nice looking FJ! Hope to see you at one of our local meetings soon.

Thanks...Tell me more about the meetings. I'd like to hear what's going on in the area.

I found that calling the forest service ranger station was the easiest for maps. They dropped them in the mail for free.

Hell ya man, congrats! Get ready to open that wallet. Once the mods start, they will never stop!

The guys usually have meetings every 3rd Wednesday of the month or sometimes on Thursdays, somewhere in Little Rock (read eating establishment)..they have the Razorback Ramble once per year (I went this year for the first time as a new guy and had a good time)...there are now several of us in Conway, and I'd like to try and get the Conway guys to get out a little more...we've got Ouachita National Forest in our backyard...it's free and there are many trails to try out...hot springs orv park is also only and hour and half or so away and it's a good time and has trails that will suit your rig no matter if it's built up or not....

I think I'm gonna try to get the Conway guys together sometime this month and at least get everyone to put names to faces...we've got enough folks that I think it would be worth it.

If I'm in town, I'd be happy to meet up.

Looked at the hot springs ORV park, looks like fun. I wasn't wear that it had easier trails as well. I'll be in that area this week and will have to give it a quick look.

Thanks again for the info.

Thinking of running up to Richland Creek Saturday to look around and try out some of the swimming holes. I'll be sure and take some pics.

Thanks.

Thanks.
