I ordered a Marlin daul case adapter tonight.

Merry fxxxin' Christmas to me!:bounce2::bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

Excellent!

While I am sad that I will see less, if any, full throttle Bill-chaos. You will love less clutch smoke, less killed side walls, and I suspect a happier Mrs. X.

You WILL NOT be disappointed! Gears > Crack.

Having gotten to drive the litte pig has really had an impact on the benefits of better gearing.

Thanks Mr. Ballard for making that desire even worse than it was.:flipoff2:

Maybe I'll be able to break in those new Bilstiens in '12 as well. I've had them almost a year and they have yet to see dirt.

This is going to be an interesting project. With the w56 being single shift I will have to convert the stock range box to top shift.

I have a '81 top shift for the rear and I would only have to change/modify the high/low range shift rail for the front case if I'm thinking correctly, other than cutting the extra length off the 2wd/4wd rail.

Having never been in a trans much less a transfer case I'm sure plenty of questions will follow.

You will love it

Its easy...I'm sure you can handle it

Front box can stay forward shift I think.....been a while since I did one on a w56...can't remember for sure

Sorry bout that.

Usually driving the little pig gets people to swear off wheeling all together.

Research shows w56a-b used top shift and the later models c-d-e were the forward shift (I have the b). I'm fairly sure I can just modify the shift fork and rod for the high/low side and delete the 2/4 rod all together.

It feels so right thinking about the truck again.

What can I say? The little pig just gets me excited when it's around.

... And triple sticks will be in order.

John likes & uses his twin sticks on the transfer case

I had twins on one truck & thought it a big waste of money
but I think I am the only one who feels that way

Twin sticks just gives me more choices. I guess I like the illusion of control....

Having crawler gears in the rear case gives me a little more reason to justify twin sticks. It basically just allows me to have access to all my gears in 2wd. Without the twin stick I could not have 5:1 or 11.4:1 in 2wd....Have I ever needed those options.....prolly not...

It also allowed me to build a cleaner center console.

Victoria will still do as much walking.

I'm sure we will still see a high speed "Bill-chaos" run from time to time. Just my opinion but I'm thinking it will happen.

A big part of fun for me will be the challenge of making triple stick for free with my crap pile plus I need to keep that sweet center console I got from you in tact. 2 low will be nice for moving my trailer around as well.

You read my mind!

If you need a top shifter i have one laying around if you want it. I have just the shift base and lever. PM me if your intrested. Crawlers are sweet, i will never wheel another truck again without a crawler/super low gears. Amazing how much it saves on broken parts, and it makes me look like i can actually drive smoothly:D!! Single best mod ive ever done to an offroad truck! Triple sticks are cool, just for console placement i rarely use 2wd low, then again im the same guy that turns the locker on in the parking lot at the badlands and doesnt turn it off until the tires are aired up, so why should i take the truck out of 4wd. If i chime in on pointers during your install, do the oppisite of what i tell you, unless you enjoy dropping evreything back out again and doing it right the second time!!

You can still do 2.28:1 in 2wd (front case in low/rear case in 2wd) you just cant do 2.28:1 x 2.28:1/2wd.

That there is some useful info. Might make sense when I get to tearing it apart.

Read evrey dual case build on evrey toyota site you can think of, they are not hard to build, just alot of little things that if you dont do/miss it can ruin your day.

some of those are tacoma based, but good info that applies to any crawler install none the less. When you do get ready to install it, try to get your hands on a tranny jack, it will make you not want to kill yourself!!

There are some good tutorials on youtube as well. I think Tr@!l G*@r has one.

My tranny jack looks alot like my engine hoist (prolly cause it is).:hillbilly:
