Well I did it! After reading damn near all threads regarding tire size on stock FJ60's I went with 33x9.50's on the stock 15x6/6.5 inch wheels. I am VERY happy with the outcome to say the least. The truck drives great and seems to ride alot better - not to memtion looks like a different truck. For any of you on the fence, go with the 33x9.50's and forget about it, great choice all around!

1985 FJ60 - stock with 33x9.50's

looks good. definitely the best stance and look for a stock truck on stock rims.

Thanks, I am very happy with it! Now we will wait and see if I get the lift and lock fever.

Cheers,

SUA Lift, the OME's are nice, Dakar are comparable. 33's make up for a lack of 5th gear as well.

I figured my mileage multiplier was 1.15, with BFG 33's, any different opinions?
(For 100 miles on the odo. I actually travelled 115)

33x9.50x15 Radial SXT Mud Terrain, Siped (Les Schwab)

I debated b/t these and BFG AT. Price was comparable (Costco BFG A/T) but Schwab had these in stock and they keep them stocked. Good tread pattern and a solid tire. They also credited me $100 for my old tires - sold.

Thanks!

In all our PM'ing I neglected to tell you that I work with the High Desert Tire Factory in Redmond. I was just having a dumbass attack, or two. I work with the owner on various projects, there and on his ranch (I'm simi-retired). We are working on building up the Off Road/ Ranch working truck Accesory business. I've been out due to surgery so it is not on the top of my mind right now, of course MY rig is always on top of my mind!

We can compete with Brother Schwab on most tire types. Really really sorry I dropped the ball.

That is really good to know. I will definitely throw business that way in the future. "Building up the Off Road/ Ranch working truck Accesory business" - how? Stocking parts (ARB/WARN?) and servicing?

Schwab is awesome. I never buy tires from anyone else.

Good looking Truck

 Sweet!! Looks good. Makes me even more antsy for my lift and tires.

bsndf,
have you had your new tires off road yet, I am seriously considering the same tire, I am and probably always will be a les schwab fan. how are your front springs (any sag) I wonder if they will fit before I get my front aal on(did the rears the other day).

No noticeable sag on the front, damn near straight and I have plenty of clearance. I say go for it, you will be happy with it. There is soo much wheelwell room on the stock truck it is a little disturbing and exciting. I have not had them offroad but feel confident that they will handle very well. With all do respect this is a stock truck so i am not planning any immedeiate trips to the Rubicon - but I bet she'd do well!

cheers,

Well I did It went with the same set up, on my 85. We got snow last night so hopefully I will get to go for a short ride tonight I will post a picture of the cruiser later, and hopefully it will be in some snow, also bringing gps to check speedo error.

33X9.5s

I have been extremely satisfied with my BFG AT 33X9.5s on my 1986 FJ60. It has helped mileage and cruising on the highway. At 2500 RPM I am running about 62-63mph. My mileage correction factor is 0.865 (I divide 0.865 into my calculated MPG to get my actual MPG. What I like about the tires is how well they do on winter roads. Have not done serious off road but do drive snowed and frozen unimprove roads a lot and essentially never need 4wd.

Looks great.

Any chance of a photos from the side? I'd just like to see where it would rub first.

Sounds about right... I did 33x9.5 BFGs on my 55 and love it. Wheel that bad boy!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the compliment! Yeh, I like Schwab, they are knowledgeable and accessible. Every now and then you hear differently but all in all they have served me well.

Cheers,
