some pics of tailgate I cut in. I will post more pics later of trailer back on its legs after I sandblasted all parts and painted with Rust Bullet first and then topcoated with POR15 chassis paint, looks great. I cut in nice thick rubber mats from home depot and still have to sandblast body and paint with RB and then topcoat whatever color I am going with for my BJ42. I bought DIY rhino lining for the inside as well, cant tackle the body yet until I get all welding finished like my 2" reciever hitch in rear channel and RTT lid done, then I will finish it up. It has all new military wiring underneath, all new zinc class 8 bolts, new poly bushings for leaf eyes, and soon to get new 6 lug hubs to match cruiser wheels.

as far as the tailgate, yes for it is a little flimsy, I will have welder weld a couple flat bars on it to stifen up along with having him weld back stops on inside of opening in which I will put a ruber gasket and then add some lockable latch system. thinking of having him weld barrell hinges on both sides of RTT lid so I have option of either right or left side lift, just have to figure out how I can lock these? was thinking some type of carter key system on the inside?

Bought it off a guy on the CDN M101 yahoo group who sold his trailer but had this made by someone. also bought 2 new OEM fenders and parking brake cable? pretty heavy duty leg, adjustable and all that...has a lock pin once vertical and then adjust leg by screwing up or down. Keep me from flipping trailer over when RTT is up.

You might want to use angle iron instead of flat stock. It will make it much more stiff.

everything just became clearer, I know exactly what I need to tell my welder now and saved all your pics! Thanks fellas

P.S

where did you get the red handled latches and what part number were they?

Denway:

Have ya thought about attaching the release on those latches with a small piece of chain or HD string/small rope? One handed opening...

Deneway

Appreciate it, my latches will have to open from outside for I want to be able to open the tailgate when the top is closed with RTT open as well.

Thanks
R
