long story short, a previous owner had to pry a fuel cap off of my fj60 at some point. Now if it's got a 3/4 or more full tank of gas she spills fuel everywhere down the rear 1/4 panel.

I got a new one on order....what's the process of replacing it?

Do you have to remove the tank or can i just unbolt it and drop her down?

thanks in advance

The filler neck is connected to the tank by a couple hoses--the main fill hose and a smaller vent hose. If you remove the trim on the rear quareter panel you should have access to remove these hoses, then the filler neck.

A simple 15 minute job if the fuel level is low inside the tank. Remove inside trim panel, loosen fuel vent assy, remove 1 bolt attached to the fill pipe, remove 2 bolts inside fuel door, loosen hose clamp under rear 1/4 panel after removing protection panel over fuel hose. twist it loose and pull neck out through inside 1/4 panel. Install new one...easy job.

There's a big rubber seal that the neck goes through at the bottom of the quarter panel, hope you ordered a new one. They get real brittle and cracky. It's not shown on that parts diagram for some reason though.
Good idea to replace the top gasket as well. Keeps spilling fuel at the fill hole from leaking into the panel as well.

landcruiserspecialties.com is where i purchased a used one. Great prices and they were really good to deal with. I purchased several other items from my want to buy thread there (check it out if you have fender blinkers for sale)

anyway, it should be here early next week. I did not order the grommett as i did not know i needed on or that it even has it. I've not yet crawled under the vehicle to inspect what all the job requires. I hope i can re use the old one if not maybe i can make one at the stop.

thanks for all the help
