Hi All,

I been reading threads and even talked to Charly of LockSmith Charly in Phoenix.

We picked up our 2000 LC a couple of weeks ago. It came with 1 master key that includes the keyless entry buttons.

I'd like to have a second master key also with keyless entry buttons. I can purchase the key from Toyota and using information from Charly's website I can program the new key's transponder myself.

But what about the programming of the keyless enty buttons? I haven't seen any information on programming a new key's keyless entry functions.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Mark

How about that SEARCH button...

How about that SEARCH button...

I love these bulletin boards and belong and contribute technically to several. But one thing remains consistent between them all, the handfull of arrogant a**'s that can only contribute by pointing folks to the SEARCH button.

Thanks. I've used the search button and read through many long threads. I will, however, continue to search if this is the extent of the help.

Somehow I missed it earlier. I guess I'm the ass.

so now how about you delete the thread to cover your tracks (and not fill up Tech unnecessarily ?) :)

although that was a good recovery... :D good for you

Well, I'll keep it going to ask another, hopefully not stupid, question.

I just picked up the below blank transponder key off of ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=250056395786&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:MT:11

It does not have the keyless entry buttons. In fact, I don't see any of the transponder blanks with keyless entry buttons on ebay.

Other than OEM, do they exist? Come and go on ebay?
What does Cruiser Dan or John Hocker get for the OEM keys with keyless buttons? Yes, if no ones has purchased recently, I'll simply call Monday.

Thanks for your polite consideration of my questions.

Aedgington,
Thanks for the tip on the Lexus blanks. I would have never thought to look at Lexus as an alternative (new to this whole Toyota thing).

Usually they just sell the shells (blank & housing, no guts) for the LC on eBay. Oddly enough, you'll find tons of full keys for the LX470... and yes, they're interchangeable.

http://motors.search.ebay.com/?from=R40&satitle=lx470+key

Yeah, thanks Aedgington. I see reference to a long shaft and a short shaft LX470 remote key. Also, the listings for the LX470 remote keys seem to be sporadic with the years they list in the description.

Do you know specifically one of the listing that will work for the 2000 LC?

Thanks,
Mark

Damn, guys, I had a brain fart. The blades are not interchangeable between LC & LX. The electronic guts are. Sorry about that.

I had remembered I bought an LX key for my 2000 LC, but that was a used, cut key I bought for the guts. I bought a shell from Rocket-keys and then bought a used, cut LX key. I then swapped the guts into the new key. I think I paid $22 for the shell, and $15 for the used key.

You might check with Rocket Keys - that's where I bought the "complete" key. aedgington you sure about the interchangeablitiy of the guts between LC and LX keys?

Positive. I've done it quite a bit on LC/LX's I've wholesaled.
