Do any of you guys deal with anyone specifically on a regular basis? Or do any of you know what is involved in getting your FFL? I have been pondered some internet purchases, but would need an FFL to take delivery and run the checks, so I either have to have a dealer to have to take the shipments or would have to get my FFL so I could legally take delivery. I been pondering a couple of purchases and I know that mark-ups are pretty crazy on firearms these days and would rather deal with someone that I know is dealing honest vs. these guys who are just driving the prices up. I mean, when the list price on a pistol is more than the advertised MSRP on the Manufacturers site, it tells me that either demand is very high, or the retailers are trying to drive pricing. Guessing a little of both.

Looking for Northern Middle TN area. Nashville, Murfreesboro, Franklin area would be preferable. I know there are several shops in the area, but I know I am not looking to spend big $$, just want somewhere that I could go in and feel like I know the guy I'm dealing with a little.

Anyway, I appreciate any insight.

I don't think it makes sense to get an FFL unless you plan to be a major "gun freak"...I'm sure that when firearms are delivered that the FFL holder has to be there in person. Better to be friends with someone who has a FFL. I too think there are major markups in weapons...like many things, but they seem to play up the laws and "what-if" scenarios based on maybe this or that will be banned.

Try Mt Juliet Pawn or Bellshire Hardware. Both are very reasonable on there transfer fees.

You can get a C&R FFL and purchase qualified weapons directly. A little paperwork, time and money and you can begin building a nice collection, especially if you like combloc weaponry.

About $30 bucks seems to be the going rate for transfers. Be sure to confirm the fee they tell you includes background check. This is high for me, coming from NC so I don't know if there is a better price out there or not.

@jynx Go see Mike at Smyrna Pawn & Gun on Front St. He's a good guy to work with and can do your FFL transfers. Tell him I sent you.
