all good ideas but I think once the trans is back in place and the shift hole is covered and I am driving it shouldn't be an issue. I did reset the trap and cover the hole until hopefully I get the motor back in tomorrow.

On that front, should I bolt on the fuel pump before installing the motor? seems it would be easier w/ the motor out just not sure if it would be in the way, alternator seems like its would be just as easy after installing motor.
 
hoisting in the motor and have a question, Is it easier to mount the bumpers loosely on the frame the after I align the trans, bolt the mounts in from the top or, mount them on the motor and guide the bolts through the frame?

Pour a whole bottle of Bud in a pan and wait until morning, there'll be four or five of them still drunk and hung over. Easy to dispatch. :grinpimp:
Excellent use of Budweiser, Ron. Bowl of antifreeze also works...usually they'll leave in search of water. Go to methodology in remote cabins when we had the family ranch.

I think I would put the mounts loosely in place in the frame as opposed to keeping them stuck on the bellhousing like you have there. You’ll inevitably drag the bottom of the bolts across something and mar up the threads.

I don’t know how valuable this is but ‘they’ say that those dryer sheets used in the clothes dryer for softening work well to keep rodents away. I used them in some old cars that were kept outdoors and never saw mice. Here in the woods there are a shi! load of them. Another option is peppermint oil. But, you’ve gotta like peppermint because it is a potent smell. Traps do it also but I felt is was better to keep them out rather than risk digging or chewing the carpets or upholstery

I can’t stand peppermint so that’s out. I’ve used bubblegum kids toothpaste for the last 40 years :grinpimp:

That makes sense to me.
When I was switching out bellhousings (Thanks @RUSH55 ), I had the back of the engine supported on the edge of the oil pan and floor jack. IIRC, I started all the bolts, but left them nice and loose so I could align everything and make sure it all got into place.
 
Front Motor mount orientation. These new idiotic POS front mounts dont come w / any simple pic of how they are oriented on the frame. I think its C in case rubber fails it catches the tab?

I need a shop first.
I’m not a fan of cats but the kids had a couple, one passed last year and now we have Noodles who is 9.

He has been indoor cat but pissed on something after we moved into shop and Kim kicked his butt outside during daytime.

He is a mousing machine!! Haven’t seen single mouse in shop this winter. He was stalking a mole this time. He also tangled with Pygmy rattler that got in shop this summer. Noodles is the last chapter in our cat experience although I’m sure Kim will get some for barn after he crosses the bridge.

@Tomba appreciate your documenting this. I’ve got so many questions how to do this and every post sure is helpful!
Happy to help where I can. In doing a search there's nothing I could find that is conclusive on how to properly set these in place. The Toyota pics and what's on SOR isn't very clear or I am just not seeing it. My guess is, its either B or C re pics I posted. 🤔
 
Another Q: should I apply a small amount of grease on the clutch input shaft before installing the motor? if so, what type? moly maybe?
Very small amount of moly.

Id focus the grease in the contact points of the clutch fork.
In the cup for the ball and the cup for the pushrod and where it contacts the throw out bearing.
Don't put enough on the splines that it slings out onto the clutch friction material.
Also check that the pilot bearing has grease. They often dont.
