What up fellas. I've been over on the 80s side for quite a while. I've been looking at getting another LC.
This time the 100 series has peaked my interest. I have read some FAQ and 100 Series Newbie stuff. I'm not sure about everything 100 series. I'm looking at a '99 LC tomorrow. It is a (2) owner truck. Current owner bought it in 2000 with 30k miles. The truck currently has 280K miles. It has a rear locker and cloth interior. Price is $7900. I'm digging it, but the miles scare me a (lot a ) bit.

Fellas. What are some potential items/areas for me to look at more thoroughly? What are the major services that should have been done to this truck after the 200K mile mark. I'll be reading a bit more before I go check out this truck.
I appreciate your input/help/advice on my potential purchase.

Thanks fellas

Al

Aside from the typical service items such as the TB/WP, starter, and all coil packs, parts that often get over looked with that many miles are usually the steering rack, sway bar links/bushing, all gaskets/seals, and the cv axles (make sure they are in good shape and the boots aren't dry and rotting).

I just bought a 98 lc with 270k a month or so ago. I paid 4200 and had to replace the following that added up to 1600 as I did most the labor.

Steering rack
Front bearings
Front rotors brakes
Bell cranks e brake
Front and rear sway bar bushings
Both lower ball joints and rebooted upper ball joints
Replaced power steering hose and flushed system
Lower radiator hose
Air filter
New oem shocks
Radiator cap
Alignment
Greased u joints slip joints
Replaced fluid in diffs and transfer case
Outer tie rods

Replaced by previous owner the last 2 years
Timing belt
Tensioner
Starter
Radiator
Window switch
Serpentine belt
Battery
Spark plugs
Fuel filter
Fuel pump
Muffler

As you can see that is a lot of stuff as things wear out but I'm hoping I can get many more years out of it.
It drives great and u would never know it has so many miles on it. So for 5800 I have a nice running 100 series.
I don't think I would pay over 6500 for your lc and anything wrong with it I would deduct the cost from the purchase price.

motor mounts, tranny mounts, brakes, rotor wear. plugs, check how clean the trans oil is. if its dirty, then never been changed. smell it, if it smell burn walk away. i just picked up a 2000 with 168k for $7600 pretty good condition a little ruff on the bumpers but no big deal going to change the bumpers anyways.

Post some pictures of it. Sounds like a cool truck. But the price seems high for that year and the amount of miles.

Take the VIN number to a Toyota dealer...they can give you a print-out of services performed from the beginning. I'd also check Carfax.
