Man sorry to hear about your truck! But you made the best of it, and sounds like an awesome time despite it.

For the trip, would it be 7/12 - 7/13?
We would likely do Friday to Sunday so 7/11-13. You are welcome to just do one night, whatever works best.

I should have, sorry. My biggest challenge was boredom waiting for the tow truck.

I could have brought over a floor jack and you could drive it over to my barn via back roads. Interesting find ,glad you have a replacement. What's an adventure without Mr. Murphy tagging along.

Amen to that. I say in my industry, best to fail hard and early. That's how to get on top of problems quickly,

Frank

I'll come up early-ish on Sat and camp that night. Free Sunday. Bringing bro-in-law + his kid, too.

Need me to bring anything? Decide on a site?

So tomorrow I am going to meet Phulcrum at the 76 / 15 park and ride and head to Anza to meet KTP at the Dairy Queen. From there we will grab some lunch and lockdown where we will camp next weekend. If anyone is bored, feel free to tag along. We'll be on HAM and GMRS, club channels (146.590, 22). PM me and I can send you my cell.

We had a successful prerun today. KTP lead the way up Thomas Mountain Rd. I found a few more issues with the 60 to iron out, nothing major (front shock bushings disintegrated, need to adjust the 4wd position, kicks itself out of 2WD when the going gets rough while coasting). At the end of the road are a number of yellow post sites, great views, milder temps, all the good stuff. Attached is the track and some pictures.

This is the first yellow post in the series on this vein of road. The cell tower makes it easy to find.

Here is from the cell tower looking to where the road dead ends. These are the farthest sites where I will probably set up Friday afternoon.

Now we need to figure out where we want to run!

What are the rules for camping up there? Are there designated spots, or can you camp anywhere you'd like? I really need to get a rig back on the road and start exploring, it looks like there are some great places up in that area and lots of FS roads for access.

I just googled and found numerous sites that say dispersed camping is allowed on Thomas Mountain road. We will be at a yellow post site with a fire ring.

Frank

Can I get a quick roll call for those attending?

We will be heading back early afternoon. We have a commitment Sat night.

I may be heading up to the eastern Sierras this weekend. If that falls through for whatever reason I should be able to make it on this run for Saturday for the day. Sorry for the non-answer but everything is up in the air right now.

No worries, I know how it is.... We will be up in Coyote Flats 8/14 - 18.

Let me know run details for Saturday so I can meet up! Should get up there mid morning.

I am hoping someone who knows the area has some suggestions. One thought, any up for hitting up Bee Canyon for some target shooting?

Frank

Let's figure out Saturday tomorrow morning when we have the group together. There is interest in Bee Canyon so I am going to bring my pistol, 22, and AR. If that's not everyone's cupotea we can figure out how to mix it up so we can get back together and trade stories of the days (mis)adventures.

Frank

Meet at lake hemet camp store at 930 , then we’ll go to bee canyon from there.
