For those that were not at the last meeting, Ryan Barnard is gracious enough to host the February HAMOM and meeting at his house in High Point. We will be rebuilding Steven's FJ80 front end. Start time will be established and I will let Ryan post up that information.

It will be very informative for those that have not yet done or seen a front axle rebuild. Hope all can make it.

As mentioned we will post up a time and email out maps to those who are able to attend.

I TOO WILL BE THERE...... OH WAIT IT'S AT MY HOUSE.
I WILL SEND OUT DIRECTIONS IN A POST THIS EVENING.
LOOKING FOWARD TO A GREAT TURN OUT.

Tis tax season so I will be working till mid afternoon or so, but might try to swing by and see how it is all turning out!

Hmm, MY personal tip / something I would do if ever doing another front end rebuild is to make two studs with the head sheared off and put them in at the 10 and 2 positions when you get ready to put on the gasket / dust shield/gasket/spindle etc. I think it is mentioned in the rebuild instructions anyway but well worth the time to make em vs assembling that stuff and trying to hold / wrench into place without slipping etc.

Buying/having the right kind of snap ring pliers (mine from my D44 ring were worthless, there is no HOLES for them to grab)

Something to sit on / lay everything out...I lost one durn washer or bolt for a 1/2 hour finally found it on the magnetic strip on the back of my shop light i had rehung in the fender, sigh.

Dude, this is pretty cool...I know it took me 12 hours to rebuild mine with occasional help at my dads. (I think 'yota lists it as 10 hour job) Hardest parts were the stupid 10mm bolts on the far back that hold the felt/rubber/metal seal...most of em I had to use an open ended wrench due to space / could not get a rachet in there. And they turned like 1/1000000 or something per 'stroke' My arms just started hurting again in sympathy pain.

Oh..and I just gave up and threw away my pants/shirt that oil smell wasnt coming out and the wife did not want it in her w/dryer even after soaking/rinsing a 1/2 dozen times.

I will definitely be making this one haha.I called Fred Anderson Toyota yesterday and got all the parts lined up, thats some good info thanks for posting that up Sam. If anyone else knows of anything I need to get lined up let me know. Also the drinks and food are on me so if anyone has any special requests post them up here and I will get them. Also a big thanks to Ryan for graciously hosting the event and everybody planning to attend.

PS. PLEASE E MAIL GREG FOR DIRECTIONS. I CAN BE REACHED @ 336-442-2411.

I really cant thank everyone enough for helping me out with this, Im really looking forward to it and I know the 80 is because I greased the knuckles last weekend and there was just a little bit of birf soup in there, so a rebuild is long over do. If anyone has any special requests from the beverage department post it up and I'll make sure to bring it. Also if anyone has any ideas for food let me know, Carter Brothers is close by and they have some real good BBQ, so I could pick a bunch of that up or anything else just let me know.

Hey, im new to the ONSC part of mud. And would love to become an active member.
May i ask what a HAMOM is? Guessing a wrenching day? I have learned so much about my rig finxing repairs and doing alot of PM. I would love to watch anything being done to an 80.
So, how can i become an active member?
Thanks
Ryan
