Does anyone know of a reputable mechanic or shop in eastern NC? I live in Fayetteville and have some clutch/transmission issues with my 62 series wagon with a 2H/H55F.

I just posted in the DieselTech forum what my issue is, but the bottom line is that all of a sudden I can't get the transmission to engage. It could be the clutch, it could be the hydraulics or the adjustments, but I'd love some local help to diagnose and resolve the issue(s).

Thanks,

Ara Dileepan

Can you get it out to Raeford ?

Just to look at / diagnosis.

Or need someone to come to you ?
I'd need someone to come here. I don't have a tow rig. But let me see what comes out tonight from dropping the slave and trying to start.

Nope, couldn't get to it last night. Will try again tonight.
Still no power with the slave dropped. I need to (find and then) pull the inspection cover to check the clutch, but it looks like that's the problem, right?

So where do I find the inspection cover?

So, the Tcase was in N. I put it into H2 and with the slave dropped and trans in 1, the starter caused the car to lurch. That means the clutch is good.

Reinstalling the slave put a lot of preload on the clutch and now, I'm back to inability to get it into gear. So it seems to me like it's just an adjustment issue.

Or the master/slave are bad.

If you video the clutch fork while pressing the clutch pedal, does the fork move?

Alternately start the truck in 1st and start driving. You can shift without the clutch if you're careful with your Rev matching.

I've shifted clutchlessly before, but not from a stop. If I started in 1, I'd have to get moving immediately, no? And can't get into R easily, which is a problem parking.

Yeah, you start the engine in first gear. There is no neutral start switch to stop you. Once moving, shift through the gears.

If you are forced to go to reverse, stop the engine, put it in reverse, start the engine in reverse.

If the slave is preventing you from shifting when the engine is off, unbolt the slave and let it hang, or zip tie it to something.

What Johny said.

I had to do this exact thing in Moab last year. Lost my clutch on hells revenge and I had no other option but to ride the truck out with no clutch. It’s piety doable

@krzyabncanuck are you still around where I could hobble my way out to Raeford?

I'm pretty sure I have an adjustment issue, but I'm wary that once it's adjusted properly, a more substantial issue will come to light, like needing a booster or MC/SC, even though all three of those were replaced in 2017/2018.
