We hiked down into it last time for at least an hour and were half way to the water at best. It is beautiful though.

I don't think anyone is feeling up for a hike this time though. We eat lunch at the turn-around and I pass around the jug of Mrs. Cruiserdan's iced tea so that we can all be blessed for the remainder of our journey.

At the turnaround:

That was some good tea.

Here's a cool NPS map of the area. You can find Hall's Crossing and the Big Bend of the San Juan on there, the epic secret paradise around mile 77 on the lake, and finally the Hole-in-The-Rock around mile 64.

Then to the north, you'll see Canyonlands, The Needles, and Beef Basin, which might get a mention later on.

The Bears Ears isn't shown, but its just east of the Visitor Center Near the Natural Bridges Nation Monument.

We mosey over and set up camp in a cool little saddle. If you hiked up one way, Navajo Mtn. was your view, the other way was pretty spectacular as well.

Charcuterie was on point...so much so I never even got a picture of it.
In my mind I wass going for this:

What I thought I was providing:

but in reality....

well...
the board it was on was nice, I borrowed it from Cam, he milled it out of Fine Italian Olive wood and hand caressed it with Mink wax that he extracted using the tears of a baby seal. I don't know, but the unshaven lesbian at the counter of Whole Foods in Flagstaff was more than happy to sell me over priced Turkey Jerky and some Soppressata.

And stuff...like Gluten Free Bread Wisps? WTF?? I don't remember, Justin from Team "Clean Up Hitter" polished off some other stuff after the flurry of fists cleared away from the board.

Turn driver, driver, I mean passenger...

Yeah, the camp there was really bitchen. There's actually a twin of it right next door with a giant rock wall separating them, so you could have a big ass party out there...:hmm:

We were all climbing all over the surrounding rocks like little kids. The views from the top were just amazing.

Steve is out waiting for epic sunset colors, but clouds covered the sun just as it was about to blow up.

What Steve was seeing, which was still pretty amazing:

We took these pics at what I later realize is the same time. Top is mine, bottom is Steve's. Cloud formation is identical.

Before I can enjoy the charcuterie (I still don't know what it is at this point), I must go heed the call of nature.

I had a HOLY EPIC post-sunset view from my throne:

So...

Charcuterie.

Pablo is like "do you even Charcuterie bro?

Me: silence

Pablo: "Broh?"

Me: "Nah, I'm good. I'm happily married (to a woman), I'm not into that West Coast thing, NTTAWWT."

(I have no idea what he's talking about, but it sounds all single-rainbows and unicorns.

Pablo:

and also...

Me: "Bro!" :highfives:

He proceeds to pull out multiple species of jerkies and sausages and Italian meats and soppressatas, not mention cheeses from all around the world.

We descend upon the charcuterie board like a pack of hyenas; Pablo almost got his hand bitten off when he was putting out more food. It was a feeding frenzy.

And that was just the appetizer.

&@$#!!!

For dinner, Team Pryor-Barwick is serving up grilled hand-carved filets, garlic mashed potatoes and baked beans.

Damn!

The filet was so tender, I could cut it with my disposable plastic fork. And the mashed potatoes and beans were on point.

We are living large out here tonight.

OK, I'm many pages behind, but on pg15 it's become clear Cam has been schooled well by @spressomon. Glad someone was there to carry the torch in Dan's absence.

anyone get a lineup shot of the tour de johns ?

And thank you for whoever left there's in the north quadrant of the peninsula ... Not the one prepped and waiting but one of the others I stumbled upon at 4 in the morning when the peño wanted out. :D
