I know this is like so 2 pages ago material but Pablo and Cam both hit on it. After days of this terrain it is becoming the norm. Sure there were ledges to climb and waterfalls to scale, hot tubs to dodge and blind hills to slide down. The crazy shoot (that I look crooked on) even a few 45 degree burnout climbs (4.10 powa) but it comes down to the fact that every thing was a breeze after this moment .....

And Steve1 waiting his turn figuring if we were still alive he'd be alright too

i think his brake lights are out...

right?

DOH! nope..

This took all trip getting used to. Here I am sliding down a slab of slick rock or throttling up a ledge and this guy Steve is idling up the ledges and gassing it down hills!

Definite gear envy in some spots.

And I'm not sure if this is spotting the line of the shelf road shuffle or if this was the demo in how to Poop without your pett as andy said he had mastered this craft.

So as not to offend folks reading this thread, let me just say, that you don't need the plastic throne of the PETT. If you have a trace of coordination, and an active lower intestine, you can accomplish all, with a hand held wagg bagg (HHWB). Not that's that what was happening here, where I was transitioning from one rock to the other, no pinot '13 involved, unfortunately. Now, the backwoods bidet is a good idea!

The Chute is just fun. It looks hard, but you could go down blindfolded. Keep the truck level, and you're good. Go off line 1 inch and WHOA BRO,A! The bottom is, well, sketchy. Everyone made it through clean, but the dugway is no joke. Plant your inside wheel in the groove, or slide off the edge. Your choice.

I wish I was still out there.

I want another Filet, that sauce was killer, and the pepper crust on the outside edges...it just fell apart on my plate when I gave it a stare down like the Bull did to me earlier.

Gahlic mashed....damn...

I havent had a decent meal since...

The 4:1 Tcase low range gears are perhaps the best mod ever to my 60 (the fridge and the seats are vying for a close second). Coupled to the H55f first gear low range and the diesel 1HZ's low rpm torque the fact that I'm only 3.70 in the diffs doesn't matter. I'm just silly happy with the setup after this trip. Braking downhill had no effect whatsoever. I just tried it a couple of times to make me feel better. I learned to stop it in gear by hitting the fuel cutoff switch. And subsequently starting it in gear. Getting way off topic here but I'm so looking forward to exercising this rig on the Con in a few weeks, and meeting up with Pablo and C-drew again. And Georg (@orangefj45 ) made it happen. Thanks, Georg!

Thanks, Pablo, that's damn high praise coming from you!!

There's going to be a repeat performance of that meal at the Spings either Thurs or Fri night. Not sure I can do it up that good again, but I'd be happy to have you and C-drew for dinner that night!

Not to inject any Tech here, but GEARS RULE.

Between Steve's 4:1 tcase gears and my new 80 series low range gear set, this trail was a different beast. When you idle over where someone else bounces over with 1000 foot drop on the outside, it's all clear. Gears are cheap.

I'm all in on the filets. All in. Let Jesus take the wheel!

Got any extra? I might be making an appearance at the springs Thursday night.

I don't want to speak on Steve's behalf, but "extra" does not even begin to describe the amount of food/beer/Gatorade above & beyond the normal levels one normally brings on a trip that the Pryor-Barwick party had with them.

We could have held out in the desert for several weeks.

Steve is a structural engineer, and always thinking of the factor of safety. He was clearly using a redundancy value of at least 5 when it came to packing food & drink.

@jrob and I will need to know some of his packing tips for our AK trip. We are fairly worried that we will run out of beer!

OK, 24 pages later and out of breath... Like your story telling Cam, Utah never disappoints. ... Meanwhile, back a few pages,I was surprised to see Andy let you spot him? :hmm:

...Note to self: Gears do rule

Breakfast on me Utah 2018 or Baja 2017 which ever comes first?

I kinda follow this sage advice recently rendered to me: "Honestly.....you can never have enough beer...it's like collecting firewood, when you think you have enough..double that, and then double it again and you might just have enough". It worked. We had leftover beer.

i am smelling frittata already..... lightly torched. yum!
