After searching, seems like replacing bumper is wiser choice than keeping original bumper and adding grill guard.

Any pictures and opinions on your favorite replacement bumper grill guard? Thanks.

I like my TJM T3Classique front bumper...but if I would have known/seen what Snook did/was going to do (;) ) to his ARB I might have purchased that bumper and done the mods...less overhang is a good thing.

All around use...

mostly around town, but occasional trips hunting and camping (80% / 20%). Just looking for some wheels to fill out the wheel wells nicely and give a better profile.

Hmmm, that's a tough one. For 80% on road....off-road bumps sure are costly. Brush guards look OK though....hmmm, I'm stumped. I still favor the Sahara Bar's looks. Cost's lots though!

Go with an ARB bull bar

WHY?

`Cause these days you need more protection for "around town use" than you do for off-roading !! ...

Has anyone seen the grill guards and offroad bumpers that Toyota offers to overseas customers? - http://www.toyota.com.au Does anyone stateside offer those products?

Yes, there is at least one member that has imported an Aussie OEM bumper. There was a $4-500 premium but it was worth it for him. It is possible the Australian bumpers are made by TJM. They are similiar or at least close enough. The first one is OEM, the second is TJM T1 (for the LX, not sure why it wouldn't fit an LC).

Careful that some of those TJM bars are aluminum, and aluminum doesn't protect as much as steel (something like 1/2" thick aluminum ~ 3/16" steel?). Since you drive mostly around town, that's even more reason to get a steel TJM or ARB (they are all steel). Your chances of hitting a deer while driving on dirt are pretty slim, as you're just not going fast enough. It's when you're on lonely highways at dusk (esp. in the fall/winter, as they do blend in well) where you have a much higher chance. Your chances of getting hit in the city (esp in the rear) are much higher. Lots of cars gets dinged in parking lots, mainly in the rear and front corner bumpers, or lightly rearended when parallel parking downtown, and the guys who hit you always leave w/o leaving a note. At least w/ a heavy bumper, although that won't stop them from hitting you, you know their bumper will cave in before yours does! lol. BTW, the guys on 100scool (mostly Aussies) say the ECB bars (East Coast Bullbars) are worthless.
