A couple of us have been planning a trip to Corola/Corova this weekend on Sunday/ Fathres Day.
This was in another thread so I thought I would post it here in case anyone else can make it.
Nothing firm on times yet. Probably noon-ish.

Hey, I heard some bad things about traffic that day ??? What do you think it will be like ??? Not on the beach, but the way to the bridge, on 168 through Moyock and coinjock ...

Hey Dave, if you get a chance, post that gps location for me ... I found some of the old trails I used to ride down there, and I think it's close to that mound, but can't quite see it ...

Here's a pic of Pennys Hill. It's the big white circle right in the middle.
The long lat is on the bottom left.
36deg.25'.43" N
75deg.50'28" W.
Sandpiper "road" runs right across it or you can turn in by the house at the coordinates.

On the traffic, I just assumed that there would be the usual turist check in/out traffic.

Ok, that is the same place I found ... there is Oak pond to the north that is surrounded by amazing trails and scenery ... I heard that the hill moves more every year ???

I'm going to try to be on the beach by noon.
I'll probably go straight to pennys hill area. If I'm not at the hill i'll be on the beach nearby.

Im in a white 60, I'm sure it will be the only one there.

Hey Josh,
It was good to meet you guys down in Corolla.
We made it back safe, caught the ferry with 2 min to spare.

Yeah, just us two ... I have a bunch of pics I will post today ...

I always forget how much I love that place, and the area itself in and around Duck ... On the way back we decided to go to to dinner in Nags Head at this Seafood restaurant overlooking the bay, called Sugar Creek. Delicious !!!

Good thing is I found all the old trails we used to wheel ... Basically all behind Penny's Hill and South of that ...

I found one back there one time that was real tight. I was scraping my 40. They were real soft sand with banked turns just a hair bigger than atv trails.

Yeah, that's some of the stuff I ran into ... thank God for the Herculiner, but still made me cringe ... There are some really nice open trails with high hill climbs and stuff back there, just hard to get to ...

Looks like the two of you had a blaaaaaasssttt out there eh! Hey guys, can you download all those topo maps on a secure digital for a Garmin gps? Would be nice to have a topo gps out there when wheelin, right? I'm not too familiar with those trails in Corolla.

I've never tried using topo maps. I just have a cheapo TomTom which will get me in the ballpark if I have coordinates.
I would like to see points that others have found in Carolla.

Maybe we should start posting coordinates of known trails in the area. Now that would be cool. I think most people keep trails to themselves once they find one
