I got to talking to my Father-in-law a couple days ago about his old truck in Zaire (now the DRC) back in the eighties. A little background, Father-in-law was a mission doctor out in Zaire for eleven years, also where my wife grew up before moving back to the US in 1995. He and a few other doctors used to deliver supplies and see patients in hospitals in the surrounding villages of the north eastern region of the country (near Uganda). The roads in their region were...well, they weren't roads. He said the best truck he ever had to go from town to town was this J70 I've attached a picture of.

The truck was received in July 1988 from the USAID-funded SANRU Project (SANRU = Santé Rurale = Rural Health Project). He's not sure of the year, neither am I.

Anyway I thought it was a pretty cool truck and I don't know much about J70s. I'd love to know more about this truck if anybody has any info.

I hope to see Greg's truck one day. The troopy is my favorite of the bunch, but I really like the four door too (picture attached).

Are they any easier to get ahold of Stateside these days? I hadn't realized how long they made them...never mind, they're still making them.

A 4 door 70....................Simply beautiful. Some day.............................

Yeah, now that the production year for th 70's is within the grandfathered importable dates, more and more are coming in from Australia, Canada and other overseas markets. And our 80 series are being exported due to the extremely cheap resale prices and e-lockers.

I believe we've got two J7x series trucks in the club right now. Greg's HZJ75 and Sam's BJ73. With the 25 year import rule, I think we're going to start to see more J7x trucks in the states, at least I hope so. I certainly wouldn't mind owning one :D

If I could afford one I'd like one of these
