well, was it this weekend that the big FJC getogether was down there?

I trust you true Socal80s guys showed them what a *real* wheeling rig can do...? :D

I read somewhere a certain Lexus did real well and kept up with the FJs. :D
Who wouldve thunk Pigs and Rabbits playing together?
 
It was a lot of fun. Brent and I had no issues with the terrain. We pretty much made it look easy compared to the many stock FJ's with rookie drivers. They did fine. Our group did have to winch an FJ on one of the obstacles (he was all stock with a manual and not much experience). Brent and I were able to walk up everything with only the center locked. It felt good not being the most beginner driver on the trail. The lexus got many comments and raised many a brow. I love having a LIFT. It makes things a lot easier/comfortable.
 
Smit and I had fun 'schooling' the FJ's. hehehe :D Stan in his lifted FJ had no problems, but the stock FJ's has some issues and as Smit said, one got stuck on the first rock garden and need a winch help from the group leader in a heep. Kind of fun being able to give pointers for a change. Seriously, the rock gardens back into Coyote and Sheep Canyon are no match for the 80's (and I can thank the Norcal Wagons gang for my schooling!). First time I took it in a stock height 80 and didn't have any problems. It was even easier lifted! The group Smit, Stan and I were in had 14 trucks (two heeps, two 80's and 10 FJ's - five of those were Voodo Blue!) We were outnumbered, but not out gunned. :flipoff2: They loved Smit's LEXUS out wheeling.

Run was fun and Sheep Canyon for lunch is a beautiful stop. Long day as Stan and I didn't arrive home that evening until well after 8 having started at 5:45 that morning. Pics can be seen at the organizer's website called adventure4x4.net
 
It was a blast and the Smit and Brent Looked like old pros. The 80 shown bright, but the lifted FJ's had no problems. Some of the Newbs were a little shaken by the sound of scrapping on there bottoms, but all had a good time.

The only FJCs that I saw have problems had stock suspension/tires (dunlop street tires) and one had a manual tranny (which I would suck at on the trail--my size 15's would be all over the place). Stan walked up all rocks with as much ease as Brent and I. It was pretty funny seeing the wincing going on by some as they would drag/scrap/hit rocks with metal (sliders, skids, undercarriage). It reminded me of my first few runs. Then once I went on Millers with no lift, I got over that sound pretty quickly and learned to be thankful the armor was there to be loud.

Yep - stock FJ with street tires got himself hi centered on a rock at the very top of the first rock garden, and as Smit said with a manual tranny. Stock tires at 31" w/o lift or experience and he got stuck. It was fun to relive memories of those first bangs and scraps as we saw several of the FJ owners live thru. They too got over it and were grinning at the end of the day.
 
That is cool, I love seeing people getting thier feet dirty and falling in love with the sport. :D
