New to the GX460 world. After a great deal of looking we are about to pull the trigger on a Falcon RTT. I was hoping someone might have a pic with their's installed on the GX460??? Thanks and also feel free to let me know your experience with the tent. Thanks again all!!

I’m just here for the pics and info. A buddy of mine is wanting me to buy his falcon rtt, but I’m undecided between that or something else.

Seems like a great tent. I have read only one complaint about less than stellar gasket to keep out driving rain. Not sure if that is a "one-off" issue or across the board.

That’s the one issue my buddy had. They sent him a new seal but he found a way to fix it before it arrived.

Is that the xl or regular size. Trying to see if I can fit me and my wife and two toddlers in there
I have the XL. The Mattress size is 53'x81" close to a Full XL. There is plenty of room for two of us and our medium sized dog. It might be a tight squeeze with two toddlers. Time to visit the mattress store.

Things I like.
  • Quick setup and teardown.
  • Low profile.
  • Crossbars for more gear. I carry a Pelican case with recovery gear and traction boards.
Things I dislike
  • Cant store more than a couple of sleeping bags inside the tent while closed.
  • Storing the ladder inside the vehicle
  • Trying to close the latches. I usually need to sit on top to close it.
  • I hated the mounting brackets. I ended up buying some from iKamper and modifying them.
Tips
  • When Closing up, Grab the opposite side door from the inside to help fold the tent inward.
  • Buy fitted stretch sheets from Amazon instead of the expensive sheets from the manufacturer.
  • CVT has updated latches that reach further and provide more leverage. I would recommend this for any brand of this style tent.
  • Unistrut slot nuts fit in the cross bar channels.

Thank you for the info. The mattress seems smaller than I thought. I was deceived by the interior dimensions 88"L x 58″W from their website (Roofnest Falcon XL). You might want to take a look at the sparrow adventure form roofnest which seems to have crossbars on top. Something I had never seen before on a non aluminum hardshell. This is making me think about making my own hardshell that's wider...decisions, decisions

You might also look at iKamper. We love ours!
Compared to the Falcon RTT, It's a lot larger interior space and about twice as high closed, but the same weight, ±5 lbs.
Price's are almost exactly the same.

That's good looking. Any issues with keeping rain out? Thanks for all the info. I am going to look into this

Issues with rain getting in? Does it sit flush with width of your rig or sit a little proud? The guys at the Falcon dealer said an XL would sit a little outside the width of GX. Thanks again for the ino

Have not had it in any wet weather. But we've been some very windy and sub 32° F temps! Warm and toasty all night long!
And when it's windy, no issues with flapping.
If you go to my build thread you'll see a bunch of pic's both open and closed of it on my rig: Builds - R2M 2013 GX460 Overland Build - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/r2m-2013-gx460-overland-build.1104719/
