Also found an ad for a 96 with 101k for about $10k

TIA

Seems like most of the 80's around here are going for about the same. Most were higher mileage. I thought if he could get it closer to $8k then it would be a good deal.

Thats a fair price, but not a great one. It all depends on the condition. Rust, time since Front axle service, engine condition, etc.

The following link will tell between model years and how to check a truck over. I would recommend he get one with lockers. They make a big difference in bad weather and if he ever intends to go off road.

I would go with the 96 over the 93, but that also depends on the condition.

I agree, get one with lockers, you will kick yourself down the road for not geting one(I did). You will typically pay more but alot of sellers dont know the difference or what lockers are.
93s dont have airbags and make a difference if you have kids, wife driving. Also newer ones have arm rests(I think) - big deal if your traveling alot.

I'm assuming you meant to include the link to slee's page. Already checked it out and forwarded it along to my friend. I'm farmiliar with all the mechanicals and stuff, I just don't know what the market is for these. I know this can vary from place to place. And I'm sure he is not willing to drive cross country to find a new car. I'm trying to be objective here, but it's hard when I am this biased. He had a cherokee, the one of the pistons decided it would make a quick exit out the side of the block. So just trying to help a buddy out.

This isn't for me. I can't imagine the factory lockers are going to sway his decision one way or the other.
