If not there, it is a simple bolt-on deal. When I was installing the hitch on mine I saw that there are mounting places for two on the rear frame rails, but only the driver's side is there due to interference from the tail pipe. Cutting it shorter or bending it differently would allow for the installation of the passenger side, too.

The 2010 still has the factory driver's side rear bolt on but to me it looks more like a shipping tie down rather than a true tow point. Those are hefty bolts but not sure they could take the full stress of really stuck FJ. If the bolts snap I'd hate to see that bracket rocketing back towards the tow vehicle. Any comments from people who have actually needed to use that rear "tow point"?

I agree; as far as I can tell all the so-called tow points are only tie-downs for shipping. I have never used any of mine for recovery, I installed steel bumpers with real recovery points instead. The stock front tie-down points tend to get beat-up on rocky trails too.
If you need a recovery point in the rear, a receiver-hitch-mounted shackle would be a better choice than the tie-down.

Yup, I'm also using a receiver-hitch-mounted shackle. Since I can't afford to change out the stock front bumper, I'm stuck with the welded rings for the next year or so.:frown:
