Factory Tow Hitch Removal

is it just the four vertical bolts on the bottom side of th hitch to remove? Mine is rusting a flaking paint quite a bit. Thinking of getting it blasted and repaint it myself.

yep or it may be 6 bolts. Also may be a small one holding the wire harness on it too

I took it off and used 6 bolts to hold on my DIY bumper and I don't recall buying 2 new bolts. It took an impact wrench to remove them in my case.

Cool. Is there a nut on the back side? Or, is it threaded?

its a captive nut basicly a nut on a sheet metal tab that is welded on the frame.

So unless the weld brakes or the tab bends you should not have a problem putting them back in.

Be aware that it's a heavy beast. Don't let it squish you. I used a floor jack to hold it up.

Will it help the rear pressure if I removed it since I don't use it?

AHC high pressure, and yes ditching unnecessary weight will lower your rear pressure and that is desirable if its running high.
