I have on '03 gx470. When I did my cd player swap experiment, I noticed I have a really odd speaker (It has a lot of circuitry on it) down in the big passenger lower trim plate. There's a chance this is simply a Martin Logan component, but I've seen pictures of other people's same trim panel that do not have this speaker and also had the ML system. I also have the stubby stick antenna in the rear roof which the FSM alludes to as a "phone antenna." Does anyone have a GX that had a dealer installed phone and have pictures of the thing? I don't see any open spaces where a phone would live. Between the rear seat entertainment stuff and the under-seat navigation dvd player, I'm not sure where Lexus would have stashed phone equipment. I'll dive back into the FSM, but I've been pretty heavy into the stereo section and the speaker I'm curious about doesn't show up.
I'm about to embark on a non-nav conversion, so I will have to take more things apart but am simply curious regarding a factory or port installed phone.

I did some more reading last night, and the best I can come up with is the "mayday" system which has some "phone" components hidden under the rear seats.
I don't have the "mayday" buttons which is why I am slightly confused.

My 2007 has the "Lexus Link" buttons in the sunglass holder area. They are basically a SOS button and a call button. Looks like the service debuted in 2000, so it's possible your GX had it. Or, if it wasn't optioned with it, it might still have a place for the speaker. I doubt Lexus Link works on my rig - I've always presumed it was a OnStar competitor system (I still remember the commercials for OnStar from back in the late 90s), but haven't really thought much about it.
