So I thought my 21 HE looked great and the paint was good. Well my GM convinced me to get paint correction and ceramic coated like he did on his Ferrari F8. Well I’m glad I did! I had no idea factory paint was bad, night and day difference for sure. I’d recommend it to everyone without hesitation. We spend a lot on these, might as well get em right lol

That is why I have a clear bra. I did even cover headlights, mirrors, any place where rocks may hit. Only place I couldn't cover is grill.

I had this same process done on my current vehicle and found it’s well worth the upfront cost. The ceramic makes washing a million times easier, especially the wheels and any small nook and cranny. I’ve already arranged for my 200 to be done right after delivery. Yours looks great!

Probably should have clear bra’d my hood. Have a thru-pint chip already at 8k miles 😞

Ceramic tint and PPF on the headlights won out though.

Not worth it for me with the pin striping I get when I take it out on the trails.

I hit the roof rail above the driver door with the car wash wand at 400 miles. Dented it and chipped the paint. Had the dent pulled and it’s barely noticeable, but damn that first nick hurts.

Put Expel PPF on the front bumper. Gulf States installed bikini cut on the hood, tiny pieces on the fender and mirrors, not near as good quality as Xpel. Will get a little life out of the factory stuff, then go to a full hood and fender wrap.

How much did it cost to ceramic paint your trucks? There are a lot of options out there, which ones did you guys chose and how happy are you with it.

On my current vehicle (Lincoln Navigator) I have gtechniq crystal serum ultra. That with the paint correction was 1-1.5k... it’s been 4 years now so I can’t recall exactly. It has to be recharged once a year or so and that’s $300 but it comes with a complete detail which I like to get annually anyway. I’ll do the same stuff on my 200 when I get it. It allows for most washes to be done with just a foam cannon, only the post forest service road washes need the mitts.

Mine is GTechniq as well, the 9 year one. I had him do the interior and dash as well with their protectant which added a couple hundred, but I think just the ceramic coating alone would cost ya about $1,500 depending on how bad the paint is.

Prices must have come down, or installers are getting desperate. I had CeramicPro (5 year) done on my Miata about a year ago, and it was $1200. They quoted me $2400 for the Cruiser. Too much for me.

I do really like it, yes it makes washing super easy.

I am extremely impressed with the paint on my LC, it takes a polish well and looks amazing, especially for having 75K miles. I may go the DIY method this summer.

I agree my 2012 f150 has much better paint than my 4runner and now my 2016 LC. It reminds me of subaru paint.

Nothing can be as bad as what Subaru calls paint. Out of all the vehicles I’ve owned the Subaru was the worst paint of all.

What makes a paint "suck"? I haven't noticed anything that leaves me disappointed with the paint on any land cruiser I've owned.

It actually looked good to me when it got off the truck, really good. Then after being shown the scratches and swirls and junk in the paint I was amazed at how much better it can be with some correction. Still better than GM paint by a long shot for sure, but definitely is much better now after the correction.

The paint on a LC is above and beyond what comes of most production lines. It is still production. If you only spend 100K the paint is not going to look like a 500K vehicle. If you want that perfection you'll have to pay a good shop for a finish correction. Lot's of people do this and the results are stunning. And finish with a good ceramic coating which is another cost. And your ride now looks amazing! Well played. I hope you never take that thing into the woods and keep it perfect. When you want to sell it let me know.

For the other folks who will destroy a paint correction and ceramic coating I've been using Collinite No. 845 insulator wax for years. Very easy to apply and remove. No machines needed. Two coats twice a year. Super durable. Washing is a breeze, water beads off for months. Cheap!
