Woohoo all we need now is a space cab.
Hope the duelcab doesn't sport the high roof and runs twin tanks

Toyota Australia have been dropping hints about this since the introduction of the v8 diesel 78/79 series.
Ive taken the "Ill believe it when I see it" stance.

yeah basically my dream land cruiser.
There is a fellow down the street from me that has a tacoma (hilux) with bj70 axles and a 3b in it.

Would be for most, probably, too bad they got that goofy looking front end. Someone should make a Euro light conversion for those things, or just put an old front clip on!:meh: just sayin:hillbilly:

I prefer the old body style as well

I prefer the old body and the old engines. I would much rather have a 1HD T or 1HD FTE in a 70 series than the V8.

Make it a 1hd-ft and I would be really happy.
As little electrical sensors and gizmos as possible in my books.
I am quite happy with my 1hz

Got the info from a bloke who works for Toyota, it is coming, near the end of the year. Will be on the troopcarrier chassis.

Thats dumb because the 78 troopy chassis is 200mm shorter than the 79 .
They should have used a cut down 76 series and put it on the 79 chassis ,but I guess they want the headroom of the troopy roof.

Hopefully it looks like those duelcabs made in Africa . With full size back doors and some windup back windows instead of slide one. Like the pos mining conversion ones here.

The 79 is only longer because the cab was extended, should be enough room for a decent size tray.

The specs quote the wheel base as being for the troopy as 2980mm and the cab chassis as being 3180mm so they must have stetched it 200mm
The cab is about 100mm longer than the 75 ,so the other 100mm must have gone into the tray length.

Those South Africans dual cabs must have a chassis extension to get it to fit.
You can tell by the postion of the rear of the cab over the back axle

That is my dream truck
It would be nice to have a larger box though

I would just stick with a troopy. As for the V8 diesel ; too thirsty for my liking. Plus I dont like the prado clip either

Depends on how you drive it.:D Driving normally, fuel economy is actually pretty good, but load it up or flog it and it starts chewing fuel. But that'll happen with any engine. It is fun flogging the 1VD.:hillbilly:
