I have a good running 1979 2F California Special motor out of an FJ55. I am soon to be pulling the 1F out of my 69 FJ40 to either be rebuilt or swapped out for the 2F. I have some questions that maybe you fine folks can help me with. Since the 1 F is such a simple motor with little to no plumbing what is the feasibility of using the 2F block and putting the re-done 1F Head, intake and valve cover on? Would it be easier to just rebuild the 1F? I am not wanting more power in this ride seeing as it is quick to break axles anyway, so I am sticking with 1 of these motors, or a combo of the 2. Last question, is the 2f/f motor combo reliable enough not to have to constantly tinker with?? thanks for the input!!

Head swap

The 2 are not compatible in the oiling configuration area  do a search and ye shall see ;)

I think the hot setup is the '74 F head on a domed piston 2F. Oiling not a problem and raises compression a bit.

74! I think I can come up with one of those actually!

Hehehe..."hot setup". On a straight 6? No such thing.
Actually, that's what Pighead runs. '74 head on a 2F block. It works, but it's still a dog on the hills.
