That's what I originally suspected, and then I considered that if that was the case, the radiator hoses (especially the top hose from the water outlet to radiator) would be horribly misaligned. They are not. In fact, the top hose fits perfectly flat, just as it should.Rear mounts, doughnuts in the right order? Something is causing the front of the engine to be higher than it ought to be.
That'd actually be helpful, I think we're narrowing this down some. Per a PM Jason got, the 65'-68' shrouds may quite specific, as in you can't run a 69' or later shroud on an F135 engineIf it’s helpful I have a stock 66 (fan, shroud, etc) with the F motor sitting on new motor mounts I can get measurements, pictures for u. Just let me know. Bill
Ah yes, perfect. Without a doubt the shrouds are much different between the old F135's and the newer models. The current shroud looks to be a perfect match for an "F".Just for reference, Here is a thread that shows a plethora of engine bay pics and the various fan shrouds.

Well, something about the F135 design makes the fan sit much higher. Could be the block, water pump, something....I wonder if the water pump was higher on the F135's..
huh...
No- it's just that the fan shrouds were specific for the 'early-68. I think we've solved the issue. Thank you all for the help. I'll need to now track down a shroud thats in @Billsboat 's pics.
