I have a GM column and I'm installing an EZ wiring harness. I seem to have the wiring all in place and pushing the horn button on the column can turn on a 12V test lamp hooked to the wire that goes to the horn. When I connect to either of my horns, I get nothing. I get no sound.

I don't know if my original horns even worked when I started my resto so am I missing something? Any special trick to testing these? They might just be bad.

Is there some special wiring trick or screwy non-logical for the horn like the wipers?. I assumed the horn needs grounded via the mount and spade connection gets the power wire from the horn button... right?

Thanks.

I don't know what year your vehicle is but on this schematic, the horn is not single wire-it's two wire.
Power is always at the horn and the ground connection is made through the horn switch.

If you're using 1 wire horns and wiring, you should disconnect one and run a jumper cable from the body of the horn to the neg cable on the battery. If it works now, you've got a bad ground. If it doesn't work, you've got bad horn.

My horns have one terminal (it's a '75 model), so I assume it's a single wire horn (dont' know since the PO hacked up the original wiring harness). I've looked at a couple wiring schematics and they both show two-wires so I'm not sure what I have. What years have single wire and where can I find a schematic?

I've held the body of the horn against the battery negative terminal and attached power to the one terminal and got nothing. I just had a hard time believing both of my horns were bad but they may be.

How much is your time worth? New Bosch horn about $15.

Based on my time, I'd have a million dollar cruiser by now.

I dissembled one horn and the inner coil wire is broke somewhere. Bad horn. The other one works.
