Sold my 45 last year to focus on other aspects of life. Then after a bout of lymphoma a friend bought me a get well present. So here we are!

Tbh I’m kinda excited. Have always wanted a coiled 40 but have never seen one like this.

1985 RJ70 chassis.
1963 - 1974 FJ40 body.
FJ60 power steering.
Maybe a brake upgrade.
Some kinda engine, very likely a 3F/H55F.
Rewire front to back (keen to do this myself!).
KM3 235/85R16’s on clean BCI rims.

Design is inspired by military 40 series. Might even stray down the Japanese military route. Not sure.

Day one done and dusted.

Couple before and after snaps.

These rigs were my inspiration.

That’s a cool project. I’m sorry to you haven’t been well. It sounds like you’re on the mend now. This project will be good therapy.

Thanks mate! Been a while since we crossed paths. How’s the 12H-T treating you?

How pitted is too pitted? Gonna have everything blasted.

So I was watching a way better welder than me on youtube today that does repairs - anyway he said his least favorite surface prep was "blasting" as it injects "trash" that comes out in your weld. Just a thought in case you need some repair in critical areas.

Too long my friend. The 12HT is still running great, thanks!

A fair point that I’d not considered. For me, the lure of working on something clean for the first time is too great 😆 I’ll just have to make sure the metal is super clean prior to any welding.

Located the body. 1964 FJ40 FST from a dry western Queensland town near Longreach. It needs a full front floor, one external patch in front of the a-pillar where the driver's floor meets the sill, and the bottom of the windscreen panel on the driver's side. The rest is flawless. Aged, but flawless. It's fairly complete too. At the moment she's parked up at a mate's place in western NSW. Plans are to buy a house with a shed and git er dun but if that is taking longer than expected, my mate [Jayson Fox, The 40 Channel] offered his shed and some help to get things rolling.
